EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington doubtful UFC gives Tyron Woodley UFC 230 main event spot “cause they hate him”

Having dispatched Darren Till with a D’arce choke at UFC 228 earlier this month, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley can now look forward to a huge showdown with his arch rival Colby Covington.

Although this Tyron Woodley vs. Colby Covington fight is not official yet, it is possible that the UFC schedules it for the main event of UFC 230, a massive card that goes down on November 3 inside New York City’s hallowed Madison Square Garden.

While this fight would seem like a logical main event for UFC 230, however, Colby Covington isn’t sure the UFC will book it. In his opinion, the promotion’s brass might not give Woodley the opportunity to headline such a big card because they “hate him.”

“It’s a possibility,” Colby Covington said of a UFC 230 fight with Woodley on the latest episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “Tyrone, that’s fake news about his hand being hurt. We all know that. ‘Cause right after the fight, he was saying, ‘Hey, I’m ready to fight in November. I’ll fight Colby at MSG.’ He was saying he was ready to go, but I think it’s more that the UFC, they don’t want to give him that spot. They don’t want to reward him that main event, ’cause they hate him”

“He doesn’t know how to sell fights,” Covington continued. “He doesn’t know how to promote fights. He just complains, man. He’s been given everything. He’s been silver spoon-fed. He’s been paid millions to piggyback off of Conor [McGregor] and Jon Jones. He just consistently shoots himself in the foot every time he opens his mouth. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I would love for it. That’s where I want it to be, at the most iconic arena, MSG. The same place that Hulkmania started at the Garden in ’84. I want to come there and make welterweight great again in the Garden in November.”
