Surging UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington has made a lot of headlines in recent weeks.

It all started last month in Brazil after Covington scored a unanimous decision over hometown favorite Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 119.

In his post-fight interview “Chaos” called the country “a dump” and said that the people of Brazil “sucked” and were “filthy animals”.

“I should have knocked him (Demian Maia) out. Brazil you’re a dump! All you filthy animals suck! I’ve got one thing to say.. Tyron Woodley I’m coming for you! If you don’t answer the front door, I am going to knock it in and take what’s mine, that welterweight belt!”

Most recently, Covington made headlines in Australia after getting in an altercation with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum.

The altercation, which included Werdum throwing a boomerang at Covington, resulted in Colby pressing charges against the Brazilian standout. The altercation also forced the UFC brass to send Colby home early, as he was expected to be a guest fighter at last night’s UFC event in Sydney.

While Covington has clearly been a busy man, he did find the time to talk with BJPENN RADIO earlier this week.

During his conversation with host Kinch, Covington was asked to share his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s antics at Bellator 187.

For those who didn’t already know, “The Notorious” jumped into the cage at Bellator 187 and proceeded to push referee Marc Goddard and slap a commissioner while attempting to “celebrate” with teammate Charlie Ward.

Covington had the following to say about “Mystic Mac’s” actions at Bellator 187.

“You know, he’s just, he’s classless, man.” Covington said of current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. “You know, when you get to that money and that fame, you know, it’s like, dude, you’re not … You need to stop acting like you walk on water, dude. You’re not above people, bro. You can’t just do that (expletive) and jump over cages. What is this, a circus? Like, this is a professional sport, man. Act like a professional athlete. He needs to conduct himself in a professional manner man. He’s walking around like he’s the hottest thing since (expletive) sliced bread. But, you know, at the end of the day, the guy needs to (expletive) get a reality check.”
