EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington updates on Whitehouse visit, meeting with Donald Trump
Shortly after Colby Covington captured the UFC interim welterweight title with a UFC 225 decision defeat of Rafael dos Anjos, he announced his plans to visit President Donald Trump at the Whitehouse.
Apparently, those plans haven’t changed. In fact, Covington fully expects to meet Trump and leave his UFC belt with him before the year is out.
“Yeah, I’m very optimistic that it’s gonna happen,” Colby Covington said on the latest episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “It’s just a matter of time. We have to get our schedules right. I’ve been traveling. Trump’s a busy man. He’s doing all his political rallies, so it’s definitely gonna happen, and I can guarantee you, I’m going to be leaving my belt at the White House.”
“Mark my words,” he added. “You heard it here first on BJ Penn Radio, I will go to the White House before the end of the year. I will drop my gold belt in the Oval Office, shaking hands with Donald Trump, the greatest living American to date. The leader of the free nation, Donald J. Trump. A great American citizen. He’s addicted to winning. Everybody, the liberal scum that want to say stuff about him, you cannot mistake the fact that he loves his country, and he’s doing everything he can to make this country great again. So, I will drop my belt to Donald J. Trump, and leave it at the Oval Office. You mark my words.”
While Colby Covington’s mission to deliver his UFC interim welterweight belt to Donald Trump might sound like a pretty tall order, it’s worth reminding that UFC President Dana White is quite close with the President. In fact, he’s already promised to help Covington accomplish this goal.
“He wants to take the [belt to the White House]?” White said shortly after Colby Covington’s UFC 225 victory. “Yeah, I can make that happen.”
