On October 6, on the main card of the blockbuster UFC 229 card, surging light heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes will take on the biggest test of his career in former interim title challenge Ovince Saint Preux.

While Dominick Reyes harbors no ill will against his opponent, he’s hoping to make a real statement in this fight and propel himself into the uppermost reaches of the light heavyweight rankings.

“OSP fights,” Dominick Reyes said on the latest episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. “He’s a fighter and he fights. I love that. That’s how I am. I love fighting. I don’t like going in there and just looking at each other or wrestling and grappling. People didn’t show up to watch a wrestling match.

“I have no animosity towards OSP,” he continued. “I mean, I think he’s a great guy outside of the ring, but in the ring… yeah, we ain’t friends. We ain’t no friends. I’m there to cause as much damage as possible. Yes sir.”

“I’m hoping [a win gets me into the] top five, top 10 at least. Then yeah, we’ll see what happens. There’s a lot of guys coming up now, you know, the light heavyweight division’s looking a lot healthier, so that’s cool.”

Given that UFC 229 will be topped by a headline-dominating lightweight title fight between undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champion Conor McGregor, it’s almost certain to be the most watched card of the year. Dominick Reyes, then, has the opportunity to seriously strengthen his brand with a big win. And that is an opportunity he’s relishing.

“For me it’s like, yeah, it’s just ‘enjoy it to the fullest'”,” he said. “It’s red panty night, enjoy all that it has to offer. Fight my fight, God willing come out on top, and then we go from there.”

Do you think Dominick Reyes will take out Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 229?
