Exclusive | Lorenz Larkin has three UFC opponents in mind including Robbie Lawler
Welterweight standout Lorenz Larkin is currently a free agent but is hoping that a deal can be worked out with his former employer the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“The Monsoon” most recently competed at August’s UFC 202 event where he starched perennial welterweight contender Neil Magny in the very first-round.
Larkin has gone 4-1 in the UFC since dropping down from middleweight to the 170-pound ranks, with his lone loss coming via a controversial split-decision to Albert Tumenov.
Lorenz was a recent guest on BJPENN.com’s “Rapid Fire” segment with host Chris Taylor where he discussed who he would like to fight next, this if he can strike a deal with the UFC.
“I am open to any fights man. Any fights with any of the guys that are up there in the rankings. I want exciting fights. A rematch with Robbie Lawler? If that is what the fans want then lets do this. It just has to make sense on the contract end of things. But of course I want these fights. That is why I love to do this. It is literally two guys training for months to put their bodies full board for 15 minutes, well as long as it is not a title fight or main event.
Larkin continued:
“It is pretty much gladiator days in a sense and that is what I like about it. I am always down for the exciting fights. I would love to go in there against another striker. I do not want to go in and get wrestle humped the whole fight you know what I mean. So any exciting fights. Nick Diaz, Cowboy (Donald Cerrone), there is a bunch of those guys up there. I want to give the fans exciting fights.”
“I want to stay active. I mean as soon as I can I want to get back in there. I would say that due to where I am at currently right now in the rankings. It would make sense for me to fight a guy like Donald Cerrone. We are or were right there in the same rankings.”
Larkin defeated Robbie Lawler via unanimous decision while fighting under the Strikeforce banner in July of 2012. That bout took place in the middleweight division of 185-pounds.
