UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is hoping to secure a fight with former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz at December’s UFC 219 event in Las Vegas.

Earlier this week “The Chosen One” announced that a fight with the younger Diaz brother was fifty-percent complete and only required Nate to stop with his “excuses” and sign on the dotted line.

“I don’t even need the cards. I’m fired up about people that tell you, ‘Don’t be scared homie,’ and then they’re scared, homie. Not a possible fight. A 50-percent completed fight. You got one half of the party that’s been offered, that’s accepted, that’s out here with their bag at Wilcard Boxing getting punched by world champions. Then you got the other side that’s got a whole bunch of excuses. So, that’s what I’m kind of fired up about. 10-4 [the UFC offered me a fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 219]. Correct. [I’ve agreed to that fight].”

Woodley continued:

“It’s been offered to me, it’s been offered to Nate Diaz. Unfortunately, one half has not accepted. So you guys, people listening and watching, you guys need to get the Twitter fingers and ask your man that said ‘Don’t be scared,’ why is he scared?’”

This afternoon, BJPENN.com’s Chris Taylor caught up with Tyron Woodley and asked if there was still a chance that he could fight Nate Diaz on December 30 at UFC 219.

“There is definitely still a chance that the fight (w Diaz) could happen,” Woodley stated. “But right now it looks like the 314 trumps the 209.”

Taylor then asked Woodley if there was any chance he would fight at the December 30 event if the opponent was not named Nate Diaz.

“If there is no Nate Diaz, then there is no Tyron Woodley at UFC 219.” Woodley answered.

Only time will tell if a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz will actually come to fruition at UFC 219 next month in Las Vegas.
