EXCLUSIVE | Tyron Woodley “Conor McGregor just dances around the subject of fighting me”

By Chris Taylor - November 17, 2016

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is coming off a remarkable performance against Stephen Thompson at UFC 205, which saw ‘The Chosen One’ retain his title after an epic five-round war with ‘Wonderboy’ was ruled a majority draw.

During Friday’s UFC 205 weigh ins, the UFC welterweight champion had a pair of altercations with Irish superstar Conor McGregor. Neither run-in resulted in anything serious but it was clear that ‘Mystic Mac’ was trying to get under ‘The Chosen One’s’ skin.

During a recent interview with Chris Taylor on BJPENN.com’s Rapid Fire segment, ‘T-Wood’ discussed the pair of incidents he had with Conor McGregor this past weekend UFC 205.

Taylor asked Woodley if he felt like Conor McGregor was trying to ‘bait the hook’ for a potential fight with his antics prior to the UFC 205 event. ‘T-Wood’ responded with the following.

“I think he was trying to bait me. But the hook was taken and he didn’t do nothing with it.” Woodley stated laughing.

Apparently McGregor was upset with Woodley for posting a video of his scuffle with Eddie Alvarez at the UFC 205 press conference.

“Before the video came out. The one he was upset about. Even though he did the shit. Don’t do it and then be mad that somebody video taped it. Anyway, even before my video came out that showed where he faked tossing the chair. Before that video came out, at the press conference he said ‘I’ll take all of those belts over there!’. So I said ‘What belts?’. And then he was quiet and didn’t say much. Never once would he mention my belt. He never would mention fighting for the welterweight title. He just danced around the subject. He never once would say ‘I will fight Tyron Woodley’. Or ‘I will take his belt’. He started planting those seeds later. I saw him doing it and was like ‘Hell yeah! I’ll plant those seeds with you.'”

Do you think we will see a welterweight title fight between champion Tyron Woodley and Conor McGregor in the future? Who do you think would emerge victorious if the pair squared off? Sound off PENN Nation!
