Jimi Manuwa gives update on possible David Haye fight: “It’s definitely going to happen”
Top UFC light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa has a big fight on the horizon, as it was recently announced that he’ll be taking on the surging Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 214 this July 29 in Anaheim. While this challenge is at the forefront of his mind, however, he is still dialled in on a potential boxing match with fellow Londoner David Haye – and apparently, it’s probably going to happen.
On a previous episode of BJ Penn Radio, Manuwa announced that he, Haye and UFC President Dana White had spoken about making the fight happen, and that the wheels were decidedly in motion. On the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio, Manuwa gave an update on this potential boxing match, and assured that it’s still a very real possibility. In fact he’s completely confident it will happen.
“One hundred percent,” he said. “It’s looking like Haye’s not going to be ready until like December or January, or even early next year. But we’re still trying to make the fight happen. We just have to see how everything plays out over the next few months with the UFC. But the Haye thing is still in the works, hundred percent.”
Before the Haye fight happens, Manuwa just has a few other thins to cross off his list.
“It’s definitely going to happen,” he said. “I’ve just got to win this fight with Oezdemir, knock out Cormier or Jones, knock out David Haye, and then we’ll see what’s up after that. That’s my hit list right now. I’ve got three people on my hit list. Volkan Oezdemir, the winner of Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, and David Haye.”
Do you think Jimi Manuwa can knock out David Haye? If so, you’re not alone! Dan Hardy is more than confident the British MMA star can get it done.
