MacDonald is set to make his Bellator MMA debut against knockout artist Paul Daley in Bellator 179’s main event on May 19 at the SSE Arena in London.

Speaking with BJPenn.com’s Chris Taylor on a recent episode of Rapid Fire, MacDonald expressed his happiness with how things are going with Bellator and his goals of snatching up two Bellator division titles.

“Yes I am hoping to get a title shot after this (fight with Daley),” MacDonald told Taylor. “Hopefully, I can get a shot at 185 a little sooner. I was really hoping to get on that New York card, but I don’t know if they are going to give it to me on such short notice you know. Hopefully, someone gets injured and I can jump in there.”

Taylor asked Rory if there was anyone in particular he wanted to fight at middleweight.

“I’d like to fight for the championship. Both at welterweight and 185-pounds as well.”

With goals of becoming a two-division Bellator champion, Taylor asked Rory if there was still a window of opportunity that fans may once again get to see him compete under the UFC banner.

fight of the year 2015

“Absolutely. I think it is really going to come down to contract negotiations the next time that my current contract is up. Then whoever I see is going to offer me the best opportunities and best money, well that is where I’ll be going. I keep an open mind to the future and if the UFC steps up and is competitive with their offers then it is definitely quite possible that I will be over there again. But, if not, I am very happy over here with Bellator.”
