UFC Greenville | Renato Moicano prepared to finish Korean Zombie and get back into the win column
Renato Moicano is set to headline his first-ever UFC card this Saturday at UFC Greenville. The Brazilian is taking on Chan Sung Jung, AKA “The Korean Zombie” in a pivotal featherweight bout.
Moicano is coming off of a TKO loss to Jose Aldo, which snapped his two-fight winning streak. Although the 30-year-old lost to the former champion, he believes it was a valuable learning experience and will make him better for this fight.
“Aldo is a legend, and fighting him was big for me,” Moicano said to BJPENN.com. “I evolved because of that fight and feel more complete. I know I will be good.”
But Moicano knows this fight won’t be easy. For starters, it is his first five-round fight in the UFC, and Korean Zombie is a former title challenger. The Brazilian has upped his intensity in training camp and knows just how important that will be to get back into the win column.
“It is very important, I feel I have to win. You can be a good fighter, but you have to win. UFC likes fighters who win,” he explained. “Not only because UFC wants because I am in this game to be a champion. I have to build my legacy and beat all these guys and go for the belt.”
Renato Moicano eyes a stoppage win
Although Korean Zombie has only been finished three times in his career, Moicano believes he can bring that number to four. He believes he is better everywhere and will eventually grind out a finish whether it be a knockout or submission.
“I think it will be a good fight. Korean Zombie is a tough guy, he has fought five rounds in the past. He has a big name. That is what I want. I want big fights, big names. I want to beat Korean Zombie in big style. He is a tough guy to finish. But, I just have to go in there and be myself. I have confidence in my skills, my abilities, and my coach. Just the way I handle myself and hit. Eventually, I finish him, but not sure how or when.”
If he does indeed get past Korean Zombie, Renato Moicano knows he will be closing in on a title shot.
“I think I have to beat Korean Zombie and then another top-five guy to have my chance,” Moicano stated. “Who knows. The division is mixed at the top, with a lot of good guys. I don’t know what to expect, just keep winning. One day I go for the belt.”
In the end, after a hard training camp at American Top Team training with UFC champions, Moicano is ready for Saturday. He is eager to step back into the Octagon and show the world just how good of a fighter he is.
“I feel ready. I just want to go there and do what I need to do,” Moicano concluded.
