In what seems to be on-going coverage of UFC heavyweight Fabricio Werdum, a video has surfaced of an Australian news station who ran a story covering the confrontation between Werdum and UFC welterweight Colby Covington.

Werdum and Covington had an altercation early Thursday when the two ran in to each other in Australia as both fighters fulfilled media obligations. Werdum was caught on video striking Covington with a boomerang that he received from a fan earlier in the visit. Since news of the altercation broke, fighters and fans alike took to social media to share their reactions throughout the afternoon. Covington has since announced that he plans on pressing charges, while Werdum was given a Field Court Attendance notice for common assault.

Both Covington and Werdum have been in the news lately as the former had less than favorable words for the Brazilian crowd in front of which he defeated Demian Maia back in October. Covington insulted the crowd and created a rift within his camp at American Top Team. This all comes on the heels of a title campaign that Covington embarked on earlier this year.

For Werdum, a string of PR issues have kept him in the headlines as of late. A seemingly routine media luncheon turned in to an altercation between Werdum and UFC interim champ Tony Ferguson before UFC 216. Werdum is scheduled to compete in Sydney later this week opposite Marcin Tybura in the main event of UFC Fight Night 121.
