Fabricio Werdum trolls Reebok with ‘Nike Fight Kit’ picture
Since the UFC announced their apparel partnership with Reebok, fighters and fans have continually criticized the brand.
In the early days of the apparel deal, Reebok made quite a few errors when designing clothing for fighters, calling Anderson Silva “Anderson Aldo” on one of their shirts, and putting a United States patch on the sleeve of Conor McGregor’s fight kit to name just a few of the controversial errors the company made.
In addition, the company caught major heat for fining fan-favorite fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone for wearing a patch on his Reebok trunks in a fight to honor his grandmother. Cerrone had worn the patch throughout all of his professional fights, and even in his Muay Thai fights. After Cerrone received a major fine for wearing the patch on his Reebok fight shorts, fans went to social media to bash the apparel company.
In addition, several fighters have indirectly taken shots at Reebok via social media, posting photos praising their top brands. Both pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones, and top ranked flyweight Ian McCall took to social media earlier this year to pose with Nike gear.
Now, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum has taken to social media to take a shot at Nike by posting a photoshopped pic of himself wearing a Nike fight kit, rather than a Reebok one. The poster also promotes his UFC 207 rematch with Cain Velasquez on December 30th.
Check it out:
The caption translates to:
“I’m not generic, am Nike from little child!”
Werdum, who is never one to shy away from trolling his fellow fighters, is currently looking to cement his place at the top of the heavyweight division after losing his heavyweight strap earlier this year. Following the loss, Werdum bounced back by defeating Travis Browne via unanimous decision at UFC 203 in Cleveland. Now, with ‘Vai Calvao’ and Velasquez set for a rematch at UFC 207, one man could very well see themselves crowned the heavyweight #1 contender.
Only time will tell if Reebok takes action against Werdum for the diss.
