With both men coming off of victories over Travis ‘Hapa’ Browne, a rematch between former heavyweight champions Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez is now being targeted for UFC 207 in December.
Velasquez said on UFC Tonight that he would rather not wait while Miocic takes a break, noting that a rematch with Werdum in December “is personal”.

Werdum is coming off of a three round drubbing of Browne at UFC 203 last Saturday, while Velasquez finished ‘Hapa’ in the first round in July.
The two former champs fought for the first time back at UFC 181, where Werdum took the belt from Velasquez with a third round submission. Werdum lost the heavyweight title he wrested from Velasquez in his first title defense against Stipe Miocic, who knocked out the Brazilian submission ace in the first round in May.
With current heavyweight champ Miocic declaring his intention to take some time off following his knockout win over Alistair Overeem on Saturday night, the next contender for a heavyweight title shot is up for grabs.
Who do you see winning the rematch between Werdum and Velasquez? Will Cain avenge his submission loss or will Werdum once again defeat the American Kickboxing Acadamy standout? Sound off in the comments section, PENN Nation!
