Earlier today, we learned that former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is the latest fighter to be notified of a potential anti-doping violation by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). “The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Fabricio Werdum of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on April 25, 2018,” a UFC statement on the matter read.

Last weekend, in the main event of the UFC’s exciting trip to London, England, former Bellator heavyweight champ Alexander Volkov stepped into the cage with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. This bout stood out as one of the toughest tests of Volkov’s career thus far, not just because Werdum is such a dangerous foe, but because he is one of Volkov’s former training partners. Ahead of his September 2016 rematch with the towering Travis Browne, Werdum invited the 6’8 Volkov to join his camp and help him prepare. The pair came to be friends during this period of preparation, which added an interesting x-factor to their UFC London scrap.

It looks like Fabricio Werdum is really taking this whole pro wrestling thing to heart. He had a recent meeting with the WWE and is interested in doing some sort of lucha libre, but he started getting in on the action early today. Werdum inexplicably carried a chair to the weigh-ins today to stare Alexander Volkov face-to-face but instead he used it to tower above him after a heel-move scare. Fabricio Werdum, who takes on Alexander Volkov in the main event of the UFC’s Saturday night return to London, England, recently almost had his nose broken by legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson. The former UFC heavyweight champion Werdum recounted this wild story in an interview with TMZ. Apparently, it went down on the set of the movie Kickboxer: Retaliation. The former UFC heavyweight champ was running through a fight scene with Tyson, during which Tyson inadvertently blasted him in the nose with one of his devastating punches.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will attempt to improve his two-fight win streak this Saturday against Alexander Volkov. It’ll be his journey back to the title, which is well underway. He’s on the up and up as a whole recently. He had a meeting with the WWE, he got his UFC Spanish commentary gig back, now he’s shooting his shot to try and get on UFC 226 with a win at UFC London. “I’m very happy to have my commentator job back. I love doing it in Spanish since I’m fluent. I lived in Spain for several years. I have a Spanish passport. So I enjoy it. I have a lot of fans who were very happy to see me back in the booth. I received thousands of notes supporting me. Latin Americans, also in the United States, supported by return.”

In 10 days, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will attempt to extend his two-fight win streak against the rising Alexander Volkov in his journey back to the belt. However, it may be a completely different title he’s after. In the most unexpected news you’ll probably hear this week, Fabricio Werdum wants to wrestle in the WWE and fight in the UFC at the same time. It’s not just talk either, he has a meeting with them on Thursday. ”I think that both [WWE and UFC at the same time] is doable. If I had the opportunity I’d fight there, no problem. It’s financially great. Fight at WWE, a spectacle that is fun to do. I’d definitely do it. I have a meeting Thursday about it, doing both. I want to fight, doesn’t matter where. I’ll have this meeting Thursday in San Diego to see if something happens with WWE. It’s cool, a unique opportunity to do a few fights there as well.”

UFC London was the Bermuda Triangle of match-ups. It was long supposed to be the card basically made for Michael Bisping’s retirement fight. After opponents were ruled out one-by-one, finally either Bisping or the UFC decided he would not be fighting on that card. Darren Till and Stephen Thompson was also ruled out. All eyes were on UFC 220’s main event between Stipe Moicic and Francis Ngannou. Miocic was up against a highly hyped and dangerous Ngannou, with his belt and a record on the line. He passed the test and proved he’s still the best in the world. One man who was watching would like to dispute that. Fabricio Werdum believes he’s the next to fight Stipe Miocic and will attempt to take back the title that he lost in unexpected and devastating fashion back at UFC 198. “The UFC said nothing yet, but I think I’m the next one. I deserve this. Not just because of my last fights, but [I’ve been fighting] for 20 years. I’ve [been fighting] for a long. I think I deserve it. My goal is to put one more belt on my wall. I have two. The third one coming, for sure. […] 100 percent, I will be a champion this year again. I know Stipe Miocic. I respect him. I like him.”

He did it. Francis Ngannou held all of his hype on his shoulders and knocked out Alistair Overeem. Still, the people say what’s next? Stipe Miocic is what is next. Ngannou is one of the quickest catapults to the #1 contender in UFC history, allowing him to challenge Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Fabricio Werdum looms just around the corner. He predicts that the rising heavyweight will indeed capture the title, only to lose it to him in his next fight. “[Francis] Ngannou has a lot of power, but I don’t think he’s very technical. However, I still believe he’ll surprise [Stipe] Miocic and knock him out. They both enjoy trading shots, so if Miocic doesn’t have the right strategy, that big black guy will knock him out. Ngannou is very confident and that can make a difference, if he really connects, you’re going down, as we saw with [Alistair] Overeem. I can already see myself submitting [Ngannou], though, and becoming champion again. That’s my goal, to have a third belt on my wall and I really do believe it’ll happen. I’m sure I’m next. I’ll be waiting for him in April or so.”

Fabricio Werdum has won three of his last four fights, but everything other than his fighting has seemed to be a rocky road. While he’s never strayed away from a little controversy, he recently almost had a scuffle with interim UFC lightweight champ Tony Ferguson, which he paired with a crazy boomerang attack on Colby Covington. Dana White recently opened up about the confrontation and his bad relationship with Werdum. “Me and [Fabricio] Werdum do not have a good relationship. At all. At all. [The altercation in Austrailia] is just a continued — this is what this guy does. He almost fights Tony Ferguson at the media luncheon. There’s a laundry list of me and Werdum. When I was driving here today to meet you guys, Werdum texted me and said ‘I wanna come out, I wanna meet, I wanna sit down.’ I haven’t been willing to meet with him for a while now. And I texted him back and said ‘let’s do it.’ So me and Werdum are gonna sit down, try to hug and make up. No, I don’t laugh [at Werdum throwing a boomerang at Colby Covington], that’s not funny. Believe me, I get it, I get it that Colby disrespected Brazil and all the Brazilian people. I know how Brazilians get about that stuff. You just can’t go around assaulting people, you know? Everywhere Tyron Woodley turns, Colby Covington is there: On television, on the Twitter, even sliding into comment sections on Facebook. However, his antics have drawn more attention than from just the UFC welterweight champion, he basically has an entire nation of Brazilians angry at him. Something that resulted in an altercation with heavyweight Fabricio Werdum in Australia. Chael Sonnen recently opened up about his kindred-spirit in trash talk, Colby Covington, praising the surging contender while condemning Werdum. “I love [Colby Covington]. I think he’s a ton of fun and what [Fabricio] Werdum did was a scumbag move. This is the second time Werdum has done this, don’t forget. Last time we saw him get into somebody, it was 155-pound Tony Ferguson. It was just really weird. That’s my piece on that. As far as Colby goes, listen, if you wanna make an omelet you’ve got to crack a few eggs. I remind you, I know Tyron Woodley since way back when and I saw Tyron do that same thing. He had a little bit of a different approach, but don’t make a mistake, Tyron Woodley stuck his finger in every single chest and used every single microphone he had to get his opportunity too.”
