bjpenndotcom - February 3, 2017
In the wake of Cain Velasquez being pulled from his heavyweight #1 contender fight with Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 in 2016, there was much talk of who would get the next heavyweight title shot against UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. While many expected the UFC to give the opportunity to Werdum given that he is the former UFC heavyweight champion, and Velasquez was pulled from the fight on short notice, reports then began to surface that the UFC was targeting a fight between Stipe Miocic and former heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos for UFC 211.

Tom Taylor - January 15, 2017
For most of December, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum expected to close out 2016 by rematching a fellow former champ in Cain Velasquez. The two heavyweight greats were expected to throw down on the main card of UFC 207 on December 30. Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, Velasquez was forced out of this anticipated heavyweight showdown with a back injury. Though there was a brief search for a replacement opponent, Werdum was ultimately left without a fight.

Junior Dos Santos wants Werdum or Miocic after Struve withdrawal
Tom Taylor - January 13, 2017
Until yesterday, Brazilian heavyweight Junior Dos Santos expected to return to the Octagon against Stefan Struve on February 19 in Halifax. Regrettably, however, Struve was forced out of this planned scrap with an injury, which left Dos Santos without an opponent. Still eager to fight in the near future, Dos Santos now has his eyes on two potential opponents. One is former champion Fabricio Werdum, who he knocked out back in 2008. The other is heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who he defeated by decision in 2014.

With Cain Velasquez out, Fabricio Werdum wants Stipe Miocic rematch
bjpenndotcom - December 28, 2016
On December 30th, Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum were set to have a highly anticipated rematch, with a heavyweight title shot against Stipe Miocic on the line. Leading up to the fight, Velasquez was very open about the fact that he had endured a back injury during training, using CBD Oil to help him get through training camp at 100%. While the former champ was slated to have back surgery just days after the fight, he made it through training camp without issue, and was geared up to fight ‘Vai Calvao’ on December 30th. Unfortunately, the NSAC caught wind of Velasquez’ back problems, and forced him to undergo an extra pre-fight medical screening, which resulted in him being pulled from the card with just one week to go until fight night.

Unfortunate news surfaced this week that former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez had been forced out of his scheduled UFC 207 rematch with Fabricio Werdum this Friday. While the fight was expected to see one man crowned the heavyweight #1 contender, Velasquez was pulled from the fight after it was determined that he was medically unfit to fight due to a back injury he dealt with throughout training camp. Leading up to the bout, Velasquez was very open about the fact that throughout training camp, he used CBD Oil to manage his pain from an injury which would require back surgery just days after his UFC 207 scrap with Werdum.

Tom Taylor - December 26, 2016
On Christmas Eve, it was announced that an injured Cain Velasquez would not be licensed for his UFC 207 rematch with Fabricio Werdum. This, of course, left Werdum without an opponent for the quickly approaching card. Shortly after this unfortunate news broke, several of the game’s top heavyweights threw their names in the hat, hoping to be chosen as Werdum’s last-minute replacement opponent. One such heavyweight was former champ Junior Dos Santos, who knocked Werdum out in his UFC debut back in 2008.

Tom Taylor - December 26, 2016
This Friday, the UFC will close the curtains on an unforgettable year with UFC 207. The card is a fittingly stacked one. In the main event, we’ll see women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes take on returning former champ Ronda Rousey. In the co-main event, meanwhile, dominant men’s bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz will take on undefeated challenger Cody Garbrandt. Elsewhere on the card, we’ll witness appearances from former champions like TJ Dillashaw and Johny Hendricks, who will be taking on top talents in John Lineker and Neil Magny respectively. Needless to say, UFC 207 is an excellent card.

Cain Velasquez ready to "beat Werdum's ass"
bjpenndotcom - December 24, 2016
At UFC 207 on December 30th, former UFC heavyweight champions Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum will square off in a highly anticipated heavyweight #1 contender fight. In addition to a title fight with Stipe Miocic being on the line, the fight will give Velasquez a chance to avenge his UFC 188 loss to Werdum. In that fight, the pair met in the main event of UFC 188 in Mexico City, where Werdum’s cardio proved to be the X-factor as he submitted Velasquez in the third round, and unified the UFC heavyweight championship and the interim heavyweight championship.

Fabricio Werdum: "I'm not happy at all with the UFC"
Tom Taylor - November 29, 2016
These days, many fighters seem to be disgruntled with the state of the UFC. It’s for this reason that a mysterious Wednesday conference call featuring former Bellator president Bjorn Rebney and fighters like Georges St-Pierre, Cain Velasquez, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, TJ Dillashaw and Tim Kennedy is generating so much attention. While not much is known about the call at this time, it certainly seems like fighters are beginning to mobilize to improve their situations. If this is indeed the case, it’s likely to go over well with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, who recently told Combate (via BloodyElbow.com) that he’s not especially happy with the way he’s being treated by the UFC.

It’s probably safe to say that former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum does not like Reebok and their deal set in place with the UFC. On Tuesday, Werdum posted a photo to social media with a Nike logo photoshopped in place of the Reebok logo on his UFC fight kit uniform. Werdum said in the caption that he was a Nike fan ever since his childhood.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum made headlines recently when he took to social media with a photo of himself wearing a ‘Nike Fight Kit’ rather than a Reebok fight kit. The post was an obvious dig at Reebok, who the UFC currently has an apparel deal with. The post was a controversial one, however, Werdum explained his intentions later in the evening in a separate social media post, saying:

Since the UFC announced their apparel partnership with Reebok, fighters and fans have continually criticized the brand. In the early days of the apparel deal, Reebok made quite a few errors when designing clothing for fighters, calling Anderson Silva “Anderson Aldo” on one of their shirts, and putting a United States patch on the sleeve of Conor McGregor’s fight kit to name just a few of the controversial errors the company made.
