Donald Trump is a Fedor Emelianenko fan
Ahead of this Saturday’s highly anticipated Bellator 172 event, where MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko will make his highly anticipated return to the cage in 2017 after going 2-0 since returning to MMA in 2015, M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein, who used to manage Emelianenko, revealed in an interview that United States President Donald Trump has been a fan of Emelianenko for quite some time!
He spoke to RT:
“He was always cheering for Fedor,” Vadim told RT. “I know that for a fact. He was really happy when Fedor beat Arlovski. Despite the fact that Arlovski was technically representing American in this fight, as he speaks good English already had a solid fanbase in the States. But Trump was definitely in Fedor’s corner. I saw his reaction after the knockout. He was visibly pumped and rushed to the ring to congratulate Fedor.”
“I don’t know what kind of president Trump will be, though. I hope for a better relationship between Russia and the US. Both countries can achieve more conducing a peaceful business rather than having this cold war which everybody is tired of. We want Americans not to worry about coming here. The media are making monsters out of us but when people come here they change their minds.”
This isn’t the first time President Trump’s involvement with MMA has made headlines. During the Republican National Convention prior to the election, UFC President Dana White gave an enthusiastic speech explaining how Trump supported the UFC when he and the Fertitta brothers were attempting to get a foothold in the sporting world, allowing the promotion to host events at his hotels.
While Trump is certainly an MMA supporter, Ronda Rousey certainly is not a Donald Trump supporter, recently taking to Instagram to speak out against the President in the midst of his immigration ban.
