While the ‘fight’ is certainly a friendly one, with smiles being exchanged by both men throughout the session, Emelianenko doesn’t hesitate to use his Sambo and throw The Korean Zombie from the clinch whenever he gets the chance. Ultimately, Emelianenko’s size and Sambo experience prove to be the difference maker, as he secures a key-lock armbar on Jung and gets the submission.

Last month at UFC 205, Khabib Nurmedomedov cemented his place as the lightweight #1 contender when he picked up a horrifically dominant win over Michael Johnson. Nurmagomedov used his grappling skills to repeatedly take Johnson down, and land countless elbows, complete with trash talk to Johnson mid-fight, and a conversation with UFC President Dana White between rounds. Ultimately, in the third round ‘The Eagle’ was able to secure a submission, and get the win.

On New Year’s Eve of 2015, MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon when he fought Singh Jaideep at Rizin Fighting Federation’s inaugural event in Saitama, Japan. It took ‘The Last Emperor’ just over three minutes to secure a TKO win, picking up his first win since retiring in 2012. Following the win, Emelianenko returned to the Octagon in June to fight former UFC fighter Fabio Maldonado. While the fight was an extremely close one, with Emelianenko nearly being finished early on, Emelianenko was ultimately awarded a majority decision win in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Last weekend, during the Bellator 165 broadcast, we learned that heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko had signed with the promotion. The Russian great will debut at Bellator 172 on February 18 in San Jose. He’ll make this Bellator debut against dangerous UFC veteran Matt Mitrione.

The fight is allegedly being targeted for sometime in early 2017. On Monday, however, Fedor took to his official Instagram account to caution his fans. In his post, he assured that, at the moment, he has not signed a contract to fight anyone in any organization.

According to a report from Russian journalist Alexey Safonov, the heavyweight legend has returned to training in preparation for an upcoming bout – though the date, location and opponent for that bout do not appear to be clear. Earlier this month, a report surfaced that the daughter of legendary heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko had been attacked and hospitalized in Moscow, Russia. These reports were later confirmed by BloodyElbow.com. According to the initial report, Fedor’s daughter, who is just 16 years old, was assailed by unknown attackers on her walk home from school. After being admitted to the Research Institute of Children’s Emergency Surgery and Traumatology in Moscow, it was determined that the young Emelianenko had suffered a “contusion of the chest and abdomen,” – probably as the result of a kick to the chest.

Last Friday, MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko stepped into the cage in the main event of EFN 50 in Russia to fight former UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado in his second fight since returning to MMA on New Year’s Eve. The fight started off extremely bad for Emelianenko, who spent the majority of the first round rocked and attempting to survive as Maldonado landed numerous big punches. ‘The Last Emperor’ managed to win the next two rounds, and ultimately win a majority decision to extend his MMA record to 36-4.

On Friday in Russia, MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko fought former UFC fighter Fabio Maldonado in what turned out to be an incredibly controversial scrap. Maldonado survived an early onslaught from The Last Emperor, and then fired back with some bombs of his own as he nearly finished Emelianenko with strikes. Emelianenko survived the round and went on to win a majority decision.

On Friday afternoon, Fedor Emelianenko and Fabio Maldonado fought in the EFN 50 main event, Emelianenko came out strong, backing Maldonado up as he landed numerous big punches while Maldonado defended. It was Maldonado however who landed a big punch that dropped Fedor Emelianenko. While many expected the fight to be stopped, Emelianenko survived as Maldonado dropped bombs from half guard. Emelianenko looked to survive and attempt to get back to guard as the crowed watched on in awe. Emelianenko got up and wobbled around the cage as Maldonado landed bombs. Somehow Emelianenko makes it to the cage, where Maldonado landed more punches in the clinch. Emelianenko, noticeably wobbled, staggers away as he connects with a right hand that wobbles Maldonado a bit. With just 90 seconds left in the round, Maldonado pushes Emelianenko against the cage and lands more bombs. Emelianenko somehow makes his way to the center of the cage, where he is hit with more bombs. The Last Emperor staggers to the cage, where Maldonado lands more big punches. The referee briefly stops the bout to give Fedor his mouthpiece back. With just 20 seconds left in the round, Emelianenko makes his way back to the center of the cage. The round ends and both men make their way back to their corners after a thrilling round.
