“Felony” Charles Bennett to Rematch the Guy He Just KO’d in 7 Seconds
Over the last few months, “Felony” Charles Bennett, who used to fight with the nickname “Krazy Horse,” has burst back into mainstream consciousness. The featherweight’s return to the limelight can be attributed to a few things: a renewed feud with light heavyweight legend Wanderlei Silva, a series of entertaining media appearances, and of course, his recent seven-second knockout victory in the Rizin Fighting Federation ring. This blitzkrieg win saw Bennett level an over-aggressive Minoru Kimura during Rizin’s September 25th show inside the hallowed Saitama Super Arena.
Despite this emphatic win, Bennett has now been pencilled in for a rematch with Kimura. The two fighters will go at it again on Rizin’s New Years Eve card, which will be highlighted by the end of their wild, Openweight Grand Prix.
Kimura, who got his start in kickboxing, was vocal in his desire for a rematch after his loss to Bennett, though the real reason for this rematch is probably Kimura’s association with Wanderlei Silva, who cornered him during his recent loss to Bennett. Bennett’s feud with Silva has served as wonderful publicity for Rizin, and they’re probably hoping to stir up more encounters by assuring the pair crosses paths as often as possible in the buildup to this end of year card.

“I don’t know why he wants a rematch,” Bennett said of this bizarre rematch. “Slept this dude in 7 secs. Stupid rematch up, stupid corner. Maybe he’ll last 10secs now”
In addition to this rematch, it was also announced the UFC veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri will be making his Rizin debut on the card. The experienced Japanese fighter, who departed from the UFC after requesting to be released from his contract, will make this debut against BJJ specialist Kron Gracie, who is now 3-0 as a mixed martial artist.
As mentioned above, the main attraction of Rizin’s end of year card will be the culmination of its Openweight Grand Prix, which features former Pride stars Wanderlei Silva and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, burgeoning Rizin talents like Jiri Prochazka and “Baruto” Kaido Hoovelson, and recently-signed former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin.
Do you think “Felony” Charles Bennett will defeat Minoru Kimura again, or will the outcome be different this time around? Sound off, PENN Nation!
