Frankie “The Answer” Edgar has a big fight coming up at UFC 200 as he is set to rematch Jose Aldo for the interim featherweight title. Edgar’s coach Mark Henry startled a lot of fight fans with his message he posted on Instagram on Monday. Henry said, “Apologize to fans UFC 200 EDGAR vs ALDO fight MIGHT be OFF @frankieedgar was tested today by USADA and tested positive!! Substances found in blood – TOUGHNESS – SPEED – RESILIENCE – POWER – GRIT – HEART – DETERMINATION & IRON. Sorry again.”

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has been criticized quite a bit for backing out of fights with injuries. Most recently, Aldo backed out of his title fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 189, and was replaced by Chad Mendes. With a false rumor surfacing earlier this week that Aldo was injured and unable to fight Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight championship at UFC 200 on July 9th, Edgar decided to poke some fun at the former champ in an interview with Fox Sports:

When it comes to UFC featherweight star Conor McGregor, one thing is certain, you never know what he’s going to do next. After winning the UFC featherweight championship in December at UFC 194 by knocking out Jose Aldo, McGregor looked to move up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship. When Rafael dos Anjos backed out of the fight with a broken foot, McGregor accepted a short-notice fight at welterweight against Nate Diaz.

Ahead of UFC 200 on July 9th, it appears as though Frankie Edgar has had enough of Jose Aldo’s trash talk. The pair are currently slated to fight on the main card in an interim featherweight championship fight, with the winner facing Conor McGregor at a later date. Recently, Edgar stated that he felt Aldo was talking trash just to hype the fight, but was doing a rather poor job of it. Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is currently gearing up for his UFC 200 rematch with Jose Aldo for the interim UFC featherweight championship. Edgar, who lost the UFC lightweight championship to Benson Henderson back in 2012, lost his first fight against Aldo at UFC 156 in a competitive contest for the featherweight title. The winner of their UFC 200 rematch on July 9th will then fight Conor McGregor for the undisputed featherweight championship.

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will square off with former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the promotions interim featherweight title at UFC 200 this July. The fight will mark the second time that Edgar and Aldo have gone to battle inside the octagon. “The Answer” suffered a unanimous decision loss to Aldo in the main event of UFC 156 in February 2013.

It has been over three years since Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo met for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 156 back in 2013. Aldo was able to win a unanimous decision and defend his title from the former UFC lightweight champion. Now, the two will rematch for the UFC featherweight interim title at UFC 200 in July.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo (25-2 MMA) will return to the octagon this July when he squares off with former lightweight title holder Frankie Edgar (20-4-1 MMA) at UFC 200 for the promotions interim featherweight strap. Aldo had been actively campaigning for a rematch with current featherweight champion Conor McGregor at this summer’s blockbuster event, however the UFC opted to pit “Mystic Mac” in a rematch with Nate Diaz instead.

While there has been no official confirmation yet that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will have their highly anticipated welterweight rematch at UFC 200, it was reported last week that the UFC had issued contracts to both fighters. The way Frankie Edgar’s manager sees it, the UFC is to blame for not getting a fight booked between McGregor and Edgar. Ali Abdel-Aziz took to Instagram to blast not only McGregor, but the UFC as well!

Dana White said everyone from our very own BJ Penn to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone wanted to get in as a late replacement opponent against the outspoken Irishman. Ultimately, Nate Diaz was selected as the opponent that would fight on just ten days notice against McGregor in a non-title welterweight bout, two weight classes above what “The Notorious” fought at for his entire career in the UFC.
