VIDEO | Coach says Michael Bisping’s last 3 opponents would “kick the sh*t out of GSP”
We now know that former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon at middleweight, where he will take on reigning divisional champion Michael Bisping.
While the announcement of this fight, which still doesn’t have a concrete date or location, generated some excitement among fans, the dominant reaction to it seems to be disappointment that Bisping isn’t defending his title against the middleweight division’s top contenders – namely Yoel Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
According to Bisping’s coach Jason Parillo, however, any concern that Bisping is avoiding these top contenders is unwarranted. In his opinion, Bisping’s last three opponents – Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson – are far more dangerous tests than St-Pierre.
“Michael Bisping’s never ducked anybody in his whole career,”Parillo recently told the Las Vegas Review-Journal (via MMAFighting.com). “Not that it’s just a lottery with money He’s fought everybody. The last three fighters would kick GSP’s a** today. In a heartbeat. Do you understand what I’m saying? They would kick the sh*t out of GSP. Are we concerned in fact that GSP can beat Michael Bisping? Of course. Anybody can beat anybody on any given day, especially a talented fighter like GSP. But we’ve been preparing for bigger beasts, badder beasts, stronger beasts and we’re gonna prepare for this guy. I promise you, Michael Bisping is gonna be good to go.”
Parillo then explained that his previous experience coaching against St-Pierre makes him very confident heading into Bisping’s next title defense.
“I’ve had a fighter against Georges St-Pierre in the past and Georges St-Pierre is a very intelligent fighter,” he said.” And very gifted and talented and strong. He really is well-rounded in all areas and that’s what makes the victory – when we win this fight – even that much sweeter.”
Do you think Michael Bisping will defeat Georges St-Pierre when they fight, or will St-Pierre put an end to his middleweight title reign? Sound off, PENN Nation!
