Dana White shuts down Georges St-Pierre’s hopes of Michael Bisping fight

Earlier this month, ahead of the UFC 213 Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero interim middleweight title fight, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre texted both UFC President Dana White and UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping to request a title fight with Bisping in November.

White remained silent on the matter, and after Robert Whittaker defeated Yoel Romero to capture the interim middleweight title, it was confirmed that Bisping would fight Whittaker next for the undisputed title.

Despite that however, St-Pierre has continued to call for a fight with Bisping. At the UFC 214 press conference earlier this week, Dana White spoke about the situation, saying:

“That is the plan as of right now: Whoever wins this fight fights ‘GSP,’” White said during Wednesday’s UFC 214 pre-fight press conference at The Novo by Microsoft. “But ‘GSP’s’ people are here today to speak with me, so we’ll see what happens. That is the plan as of the last time that I talked to them.”

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley then chimed in:

“They’re going to ask to fight Bisping because Georges don’t want to fight me.”

White was quick to hop on the mic once again to ease Woodley’s concerns:

“Listen, the Bisping ship has sailed. If you win on Saturday it’s going to be you, pal.”

The news of a Woodley vs. St-Pierre fight doesn’t come as a shock. During the course of the Bisping vs. St-Pierre saga, after White shut the door on the matchup, he stated that St-Pierre would be fighting the winner of the Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia fight.

Now, with Woodley vs. Maia just days away, we could very well find out who will be St-Pierre’s opponent for when he returns to the Octagon.
