Former UFC middleweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre is undoubtably one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. With a professional record of 25-2 that saw him go undefeated in UFC for over 5 years as he won, and then defended the UFC welterweight championship 9 times in a row before stepping away from the Octagon in 2013 after defeating Johny Hendricks via split decision at UFC 167.

With news surfacing this week that St-Pierre is officially back in the UFC after signing a new multi-fight deal, the former champ has now proclaimed that despite the lengthy layoff, he believes that the current GSP would beat the past GSP, who dominated the welterweight division for so many years.

He spoke on an Instagram Live video, saying:

“I think for me it’s a good time to come back now because I’m 35-years-old,” St-Pierre said. “I just finished a training camp that I did to see if I can come back to the world-class level and I feel at the best shape of my life.”

“I feel better than I’ve ever been,” he continued. “I feel that the Georges St-Pierre now would beat the Georges St-Pierre that was the greatest of the time that I used to compete. So I can’t wait to go back in there and show people, including myself – test my self, test my skill – to see how everything goes.” – transcribed by Lewis McKeever of Bloody Elbow

While there has been no word as to when St-Pierre will be returning to the Octagon, Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping, and Conor McGregor have all been mentioned as possible opponents for St-Pierre. With that being said, oddsmakers have released the odds for who St-Pierre is likely to fight in his return scrap, with Michael Bisping being the most likely opponent for the former champ, while Anderson Silva is the 2nd most likely opponent.
