Georges St-Pierre open to fighting Nick Diaz or Michael Bisping
Throughout the course of the past year, reports and rumors have continued to surface in regards to a potential return of Georges St-Pierre.
In 2016, reports surfaced that Georges St-Pierre and the UFC were currently in the process of negotiating a contract that would see the former welterweight kingpin return from his lengthy hiatus. Reports surfaced that St-Pierre would be returning for a middleweight title fight with Michael Bisping in Canada, however after negotiations with the UFC failed due to a conflicting deal St-Pierre personally had with Under Armour, the former champ released a statement via Twitter saying:
“Nothing would make me more happy in the world to fight you in Toronto, Michael. Last week I met with Ari, and I made peace with Dana [White]. I tried to resolve things, but unfortunately, right now it’s not happening. Hopefully, things will change soon. Thank you”
Now, with St-Pierre and the UFC reportedly in agreement on a multi-fight contract which is currently being finalized, the former champ spoke in an interview with Daily Star to discuss who he would like to fight. When asked if he was interested in a fight with Michael Bisping or Nick Diaz, St-Pierre stated:
“There’s a lot of fights that interest me, It’s like the stock market, you know?
“Sometimes some guys’ stock are more hot than some others, you know?”
“And as a fighter, you always want to have the hot stock.”
Odds recently were released in regards to who St-Pierre’s opponent could potentially be in his return fight, with Michael Bisping being the most likely opponent for St-Pierre’s return, and Anderson Silva being the 2nd most likely opponent for St-Pierre in his return.
