Oddsmaker says Floyd Mayweather could be 100-1 betting favorite in potential GSP fight

Tristar head coach Firas Zahabi is hoping that his star pupil, Georges St-Pierre, will follow in the footsteps of Conor McGregor and battle undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring. In the opinion of veteran combat sports oddsmaker Joey Oddessa, however, there’s almost no point in making this fight — at least, not from a competitive vantage point. He believes St-Pierre would have no chance in a boxing bout with Mayweather, and the betting line for the potential fight would reflect this reality.

Georges St-Pierre, Floyd Mayweather, GSP

“There are three certainties in life: Death, taxes, and Floyd Mayweather will not lose to any MMA fighter or boxer in a boxing ring over the duration of his lifetime,” Oddessa told MMAjunkie of this potential boxing match, which will almost certainly never happen.

“Floyd could easily be a -10,000 (100-to-1) favorite, and that would be giving anyone with big money the closest thing to a sure thing for a short term 1 percent return on investment,” Oddessa added. “The -10,000 line should be high enough to put the majority of casual players on St-Pierre – those same casual players who found enough value on Conor McGregor to upset Floyd and drove the price from an average of -2,500 all the way down to -400.”

While this oddsmaker doesn’t believe Georges St-Pierre would have a snowball’s chance in hell against Floyd Mayweather, Zahabi feels his fighter could pull it off. At the very least, he believes St-Pierre would have some advantages.

“They’ll fight at a catchweight,” Zahabi said, clarifying on the logistics of his dream fight. “Do you think Mayweather is worried that he’s going to be concussed? He’s fought all the top punchers in the world. He’s just going to have to worry about Georges’ volume and reach, but he can handle himself, and Georges can handle himself. But the whole world is going to tune into that one.”
