Tyron Woodley doesn’t want to talk about Georges St-Pierre vs. Michael Bisping

During negotiations regarding the return of Georges St-Pierre, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley was mentioned as a potential opponent for the former welterweight kingpin given the fact that Woodley holds the belt once held by Georges St-Pierre.

With that being said, GSP has now signed a new multi-fight UFC contract, and will now fight UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping later in the year. Despite Tyron Woodley currently being booked for a welterweight showdown with Stephen Thompson this Saturday in the main event of UFC 209, he was asked about the GSP-Bisping fight during a recent interview on Fox Sports, in which he said:

“Don’t ask me about GSP. Nobody ask me about GSP and [Michael] Bisping. That [expletive] happened to me when I was fighting Rory [MacDonald] the first time,” Woodley said at a media day in Las Vegas on Wednesday, per Damon Martin of FOX Sports. “Talking about Matt Brown and Robbie Lawler, my focus left that fight and I didn’t show up to work that week.

“So if you ask me that question, I apologize but I will not answer. ‘Wonderboy’ is a tough opponent, he deserves my respect and he deserves my attention. That’s the fight I signed for, that’s the fight I’m doing this weekend, so unfortunately, I will not answer any questions on GSP and Michael Bisping.”

Woodley and Thompson of course have fought once before. In that fight, which took place in the co-main event of UFC 205, the pair fought to a majority draw which saw Woodley retain his belt after a hard-fought 5 round affair. With the rematch just days away, depending on how Woodley’s rematch with Thompson, and St-Pierre’s fight with Bisping play out, fight fans could still see a GSP-Woodley fight in the near future!
