GLORY Announces Partnership with Pluto TV
Glory kickboxing has been looking for a permanent home since its inception back in 2012. The promotion would originally air online and on PPV for the American audience until a deal with Spike TV brought the kickboxing promotion to cable in the United States.
A deal with ESPN brought the promotion’s to ESPN 3, the sports giant’s online streaming platform while UFC Fight Pass subsequently signed on to air the promotion’s preliminary card, dubbed, the Super Fight Series.
According to a press release sent out on Wednesday, however, Glory kickboxing has found a new home for its preliminary card, starting with Glory 48 on December 1st. Pluto TV will host five live fights this Friday, making the fights available to anyone with an Apple TV, gaming console, or any garden variety streaming device. Pluto TV raised $8.3 million this past October in additional funding, with Samsung leading the charge at $5 million.
Pluto TV already has a channel dedicated to past Glory events, including original programming. Helping Pluto establish itself as a necessity for the growing cord cutters communities, live Glory events will be a welcome addition to the free streaming service.
The main event of the Super Fight Series will feature Tiffany van Soest as she looks to defend her Super bantamweight title against Anissa Meksen. Former UFC middleweight Chris Camozzi also appears on the preliminary card.
