Chuck Liddell reacts following knockout loss to Tito Ortiz
Former UFC light heavyweight champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz collided once again tonight, this time under the Golden Boy MMA banner.
“The Iceman” and “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” originally crossed paths at UFC 47, with Chuck Liddell emerging victorious by way of second-round knockout.
The bitter rivals would meet again at UFC 66, and once again Chuck Liddell would prove victorious, this time by way of third-round TKO.
Despite his prior success against Ortiz, Liddell entered tonight’s contest as the betting underdog.
“The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” entered tonight’s trilogy bout having won three of his past four fights overall. Ortiz had most recently taken to the cage at Bellator 170 in January of 2017, where he submitted Chael Sonnen in the very first round.
As for Chuck Liddell, the “Iceman” returned to action for the first time since UFC 115 in 2010 tonight. Liddell had suffered a first-round knockout loss to former UFC champion Rich Franklin in that contest.
Unfortunately for Liddell fans, Chuck was dominated rather easily by Tito Ortiz this evening. The Iceman looked slow in his return and eventually was put to sleep by an Ortiz right hand.
As expected, Tito’s devastating finish of Liddell produced a plethora of fighter reactions on social media.
Immediately following his devastating loss Chuck Liddell was interviewed and gave the following statement.
“I was out there and I got caught. It is what it is. I got no excuses.” Chuck Liddell said (via Ariel Helwani).
When asked “what is next?”, Chuck Liddell responded “I don’t know”.
Most recently the Iceman took to Instagram where he shared the following update.

“Come home with your shield or on it! Train, live and fight like a warrior. I wish I had performed better tonight for all the incredible people who came to support me. I came up against all odds and I trained like a beast. My only regret is the friends and family that I wanted to win for. I love all of you!❤️ I will be at Nightingale tonight to celebrate before I head to my friend s house for an epic after party. Thank you so much for all the love and support. #fighterlife #liddell #iceman #liddellstyle #familyfirst #honor”
