The war of words between former UFC bantamweight champions Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo isn’t showing any signs of stopping. Garbrandt and Cejudo began going at it on social media after reigning UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, who will return to the cage against Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC 256 this Saturday, divulged that he’d prefer to fight Cejudo next, rather than Garbrandt.

Former UFC champions Henry Cejudo and Cody Garbrandt got into a heated dispute after Deiveson Figueiredo suggested he wants ‘Triple C’ after UFC 256. During a recent interview with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the reigning flyweight champion in Figueiredo said that he wanted to fight Cejudo after UFC 256 because he has “talked a lot of shit.”

Figueiredo is slated to defend his title against the streaking Brandon Moreno in the UFC 256 main event. Heading into the fight, the expectation is that the champ will be booked for a fight with former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt next if he’s successful.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo sent UFC president Dana White a message saying he will embarrass the promotion’s champions. Cejudo was at the top of his game when he abruptly retired from the sport and vacated the UFC bantamweight title following a TKO win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 in May. Since then, Cejudo has taken his trolling game on social media to a whole other level. “The Messenger” is on Twitter and Instagram seemingly every day taking champs at several of the UFC’s champions including Petr Yan and Alexander Volkanovski. Henry Cejudo captured the UFC flyweight title with a controversial split decision defeat of of Demetrious Johnson in August, 2018. After defending the title with a knockout of TJ Dillashaw in January 2019, he then ventured up to bantamweight, where he captured the vacant title with a defeat of Marlon Moraes, and retired after defending the belt against Dominick Cruz.

On Saturday night, Lopez Jr. shocked the boxing world when he defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko via unanimous decision in a massive upset. Lopez Jr. outboxed the pound-for-pound great Lomachenko for the majority of the rounds as he staved off a late comeback to earn the decision. Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling traded shots on Twitter after Cejudo said Sterling would get passed over for a bantamweight title shot. In the main event of UFC Fight Island 5, Cory Sandhagen knocked out No. 1 ranked Marlon Moraes with a spinning wheel kick and punches to re-emerge as one of the best bantamweights in the division. Sandhagen, of course, suffered a first-round submission loss to Sterling in his last fight at UFC 250 back in June. But in MMA, the sport is all about what have you done lately, and Sandhagen’s win puts him right back into title contention.

Adesanya knocked out Paulo Costa in the main event of UFC 253 to defend the UFC middleweight title. Immediately after the referee stepped in and stopped the fight, Adesanya was caught on camera play humping Costa. Cejudo recently retired from MMA following a TKO win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249, but he has been active in his retirement calling out MMA fighters and boxers, including Garcia. Both Cejudo and Garcia have been going back-and-forth in interviews over the last few months, making their feelings known about each other. Cejudo has been enjoying retirement ever since he successfully defended the Bantamweight Championship against the returning Dominick Cruz in May. Still, while he may have “retired”, he hasn’t really stopped campaigning for a big fight if and when he decides to return to the Octagon.
