Three reasons to watch UFC Brooklyn on ESPN+

Mike Straus - January 17, 2019

Champion vs champion fights don’t come along too often and a title fight that is not on a PPV card is rare. That however, is exactly what is on tap for this weekend’s UFC Brooklyn card on ESPN+. The FOX era is over and the UFC is now partnered with Disney. Well, sort of … Disney owns ESPN. Regardless, just like they did with the first big FOX card between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos back in 2011, the UFC is coming in hot with their first offering on a new platform.

TJ Dillashaw fires back at 'scared' Henry Cejudo

Tom Taylor - January 17, 2019

Earlier this week, UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo made some rather hostile remarks about his next challenger, slimmed-down bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw. Cejudo seemed particularly concerned about Dillashaw’s flyweight physique, and whether or not the bantamweight champ will hit the 125-pound flyweight limit for their Saturday night fight. “Personally, I think he looks like Pee-wee Herman if you ask me,” Cejudo said of Dillashaw on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour (transcript via MMA Fighting). “In the physique way, I really do feel like he looks like Pee-wee Herman. … I thought he’d have a little more bulk to him, but I guess not. He’s not looking so well. It looks like he needs a cup of water. He looks like a cross country runner.”

TJ Dillashaw on Henry Cejudo: 'I'm going outwrestle him'

Tom Taylor - January 16, 2019

This Saturday, in the main event of the UFC’s first-ever card on ESPN+, UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will take a trip south to the flyweight division, where he’ll battle local champ Henry Cejudo in a bid to become a two-division titleholder. Heading into this fight, both men would seem to have a clear list of advantages and disadvantages. While the wrestling advantage is widely believed to be in the corner of the Olympic wrestler Cejudo, however, TJ Dillashaw is confident he’ll be able to win the bout’s wrestling exchanges.

Henry Cejudo on defending his division: 'I’m trying to employ people here'

Drake Riggs - January 14, 2019

At UFC 227 in August 2018, Henry Cejudo made history by becoming the second ever UFC flyweight champion. Unfortunately, since then the division has had a big black cloud surrounding it and it seems as if they all may be finding themselves out of roster spots in the near future.

Henry Cejudo will put his newly acquired Flyweight title on the line for the first time against TJ Dillashaw in the headliner of next weekend’s UFC Fight Night event on ESPN+. The current bantamweight kingpin, TJ Dillashaw, will be making his 125-pound debut when he squares off with the former Olympic gold medalist next Saturday in Brooklyn.

Henry Cejudo manager doubts TJ Dillashaw will make weight for flyweight title fight

Tom Taylor - January 4, 2019

On January 19, in the main event of the UFC’s first card on ESPN+, reigning UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will drop down to the flyweight division to battle divisional king Henry Cejudo for his title. First, of course, TJ Dillashaw will have to successfully cut down to the flyweight limit of 125 pounds. Henry Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has some serious doubts that that will happen.

Tom Taylor - December 21, 2018

On January 19, the UFC will debut on the streaming service ESPN+ with an impressive night of fights. Headlined by a flyweight title fight between reigning champion Henry Cejudo and slimmed down bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, the card is easily one of the most anticipated features on the UFC’s 2019 calendar so far. And now the card has an official poster.

Henry Cejudo on TJ Dillashaw fight: 'I will cut the head off the snake forever'

Cole Shelton - November 13, 2018

On January 26, at UFC 233, UFC bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw will move down to flyweight to take on divisional champ Henry Cejudo. If Dillashaw wins this fight, he will become one of just a few fighters to hold titles in two UFC weight classes concurrently. It could also spell the end of the flyweight division. Yet Cejudo isn’t sure that’s the way things will go down. He knows the cut down to 125 pounds will be tough on Dillashaw, and also believes he possesses a skillset unlike anyone Dillashaw has fought before.

Henry Cejudo says he could leave UFC if promotion drops flyweight division

Tom Taylor - November 12, 2018

On January 26, in the main event of UFC 233, UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo is expected to defend his title against slimmed down bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw. This bout carries some massive implications, as the UFC is reportedly planning on shutting down its flyweight division in the near future. While Henry Cejudo is currently focused on his UFC 233 fight with TJ Dillashaw, he believes that, win or lose, his time with the UFC could come to an end if the promotion drops the flyweight division thereafter.

UPDATE | Henry Cejudo to defend flyweight title vs TJ Dillashaw at UFC 233

Cole Shelton - November 8, 2018

The first pay-per-view of the year may have its headliner. According to MMAFighting, Henry Cejudo vs. TJ Dillashaw is targeted for the card in Anaheim, California on January 26. What weight class that the bout will be at is unknown right now. However, it seems to make the most sense to have the fight at bantamweight given the fact it is reported that the UFC is closing the flyweight division.

Flyweight Champ Henry Cejudo tells Joe Rogan the UFC is likely closing the doors on its men's 125-pound division

Christopher Taylor - November 2, 2018

Current UFC Flyweight Champion Henry Cejudo believes the writing is on the wall for the promotion to close down its men’s 125-pound division. Cejudo, who claimed the UFC flyweight strap by defeating long-time flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson via split-decision at UFC 227, recently sat down the UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Henry Cejudo has been reunited with his UFC belt

Tom Taylor - September 18, 2018

Shortly after winning the UFC flyweight title with a historic decision defeat of long-time champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, Henry Cejudo jumped on a plane to Russia to enjoy the festivities of the promotion’s UFC Moscow card. As most UFC champions would on such a trip, he toted along his UFC belt. Unfortunately, the airline lost his luggage, which meant that he lost his belt. Given that Henry Cejudo had already lost his Olympic gold medal in a house fire, this incident was particularly wild.

Henry Cejudo's UFC belt is missing

Cole Shelton - September 16, 2018

Anything gold is bad luck for current UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. Cejudo was in Russia to take in Saturday’s UFC Moscow card and spoke to reporters where he admitted that the airline lost his luggage. No big deal right, it is just some clothes. Well, not entirely, as in his luggage was the UFC belt that he won at UFC 227 when he defeated longtime champion Demetrious Johnson.

Henry Cejudo claims fight with TJ Dillashaw is "very close" to being official

Tom Taylor - September 14, 2018

Shortly after Henry Cejudo dethroned long-time UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 227, he called out TJ Dillashaw, who defended the UFC bantamweight title with a first-round knockout of Cody Garbrandt in the card’s main event. Cejudo’s hope, he explained, was to move up to bantamweight and challenge Dillashaw in an attempt at becoming a two-division champion. At first, TJ Dillashaw didn’t seem receptive of this idea. More recently, however, Dillashaw has said he actually does want to fight Cejudo — though he wants to move down to flyweight to challenge Cejudo for his title, not the other way around.

TJ Dillashaw says he wants title fight with Henry Cejudo next

Tom Taylor - September 13, 2018

Shortly after Henry Cejudo defied the odds and swiped the UFC flyweight title from the waist of long-time champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 227, he called out TJ Dillashaw, who defended the UFC bantamweight title with a first-round knockout of Cody Garbrandt in the card’s main event. Cejudo’s hope, he explained, was to move up to bantamweight and challenge Dillashaw in an attempt at becoming a two-division champion. Initially, TJ Dillashaw seemed lukewarm about the possibility. More recently, however, he’s sounding a lot more interested in fighting Henry Cejudo — just not under quite the circumstances Cejudo hoped.

Henry Cejudo: "it would be good" to give next flyweight title shot to somebody other than Mighty Mouse

Thomas Taylor - August 11, 2018

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is no longer the UFC flyweight champion. That honor now belongs to Henry Cejudo, who swiped the belt from Johnson with a hard-fought unanimous decision at UFC 227 earlier this month. Given that Johnson had defended the title 11 consecutive times before losing it, and that he knocked Cejudo out in their first fight just two years ago, the widespread feeling is that the former champion should get an immediate opportunity to reclaim the title.
