Holly Holm reacts to Ronda Rousey vs Amanda Nunes

The UFC’s woman’s bantamweight division had some strong reactions to the announcement of former champion Ronda Rousey taking on current champ Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.

Perhaps the only woman in the division who didn’t react to the announcement with contempt was the very fighter who took Rousey’s belt back in 2015, Holly Holm.

Holm discussed her thoughts on Rousey’s comeback fight for the title on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour and seemed to be at peace with the idea of the woman she knocked out getting the next crack at the belt.

“I didn’t have good performances in my last two fights so why should I walk around and say what I deserve? I’ve never done that in my career anyway. I’m curious to watch the fight (Rousey vs Nunes) and see how it turns out. I’m not by any means pissed off about it or anything”

Rousey hasn’t fought since Holm knocked her out in the second round of their UFC 193 title fight. Meanwhile, Holm has fought twice since then, losing the belt to Miesha Tate in her first title defense before dropping a decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko in July.

It’s been somewhat of a steep downfall for Holm, who was the talk of the sports world after becoming the first woman to not just beat Rousey, but the first to knock her out as well.

Holm lost to Miesha Tate in her first attempted title defense, and seems even further from a title shot following her most recent loss to Shevchenko.

But it appears as though she’s not balking at Rousey’s immediate title shot the way Julianna Pena and others have.

Holm hasn’t had a fight lined up since the loss to Shevchenko in July.
