Jedrzejczyk successfully defended her UFC strawweight championship against Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event, while Holm pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history in the main event as she KOd Ronda Rousey.

In the co-main event of UFC 196, Holly Holm and Miesha Tate battled for nearly 5 full rounds. While it seemed that Holm was on her way to an impressive decision win to retain her UFC women’s bantamweight championship, Tate secured a late 5th round submission to win the bout. Holm showed tremendous heart as she fought the choke, refusing to tap, while ultimately lead to her being choked unconscious.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm was likely just a minute and a half away from defending her belt for the first time in a fight against Miesha Tate at UFC 196. Holm fought off Tate who had a dominant second round and nearly secured a rear-naked choke submission on the only fighter to win world titles both in boxing and in the UFC. Holm ultimately lost in the fifth round when Tate was able to gain position and take Holm’s back again sinking in a deep rear-naked choke. Holm showed a never give up attitude without tapping and went unconscious due to the choke.

Dana White is not upset after losing arguably the biggest PPV event ever for the UFC later this year with the rematch of Holm v Rousey. He has expressed that he feels sorry for Holly Holm but not for the reason you think. He doesn’t feel bad she lost only that she doesn’t know how much money she lost due to her manager Lenny Fresquez.

The UFC women’s bantamweight champion was told by the former champion Ronda Rousey that she would be much happier in life if she stayed a contender, as the life of a champion has a taxing schedule aside from just training and fighting. However, Holm did make it known that she did not want to wait for a rematch pending Rousey’s schedule to recover and finish her movie projects. Holm got her wish when the UFC booked a fight for her against Miesha Tate at UFC 196 on March 5.
