The fight came as a long-anticipated rematch between the 135-pound fighters. “The Preacher’s Daughter” originally met Pennington during her UFC debut in 2015. She defeated “Rocky” by split decision during their UFC 184 bout.

Despite beating Megan Anderson by unanimous decision in 2018, Holm’s suffered a loss at the hands of Amanda Nunes during her only bout of 2019. The former champ lost by TKO against Nunes at UFC 239.

Pennington also lost to Nunes by TKO in 2018, but she won her most recent fight against Irene Aldana via split decision.

Tonight in the co-main event, the bantamweight fighters were off to a tentative start. As both women found their distance and range, Pennington looked to close the distance and the pair tussled in a clinch on the fence. However, Holm maintained dominant position and pressured her opponent whilst landing strikes to soften his opponent.

Throughout the three-round fight, Holm adopted the same strategy. She muscled her way to the dominant position in the clinch throughout to neutralize and offence from his rival. Pennington managed to land some good strikes and even took Holm down in the third round. However, The Preacher’s Daughter bounced back to her feet and clinched her way to unanimous decision victory against her adversary (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

The Preacher’s daughter was happy to walk out of the arena with another victory to her name.
