Bonus Report: Invicta FC 8: Four Fighters Take Home Some Extra Cash

By bjpenndotcom - September 6, 2014

Invicta FC 8 went down Saturday night at The Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. Two title fights capped off a night of exciting back and forth fights. Besides some issues with the UFC Fight Pass stream, the event seemed to be a major success for the promotion. At the post fight press conference Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp announced the bonuses winners for the night.

Fight of the night: Stephanie Eggink vs. Katja Kankannpaa

The two strawweights went to war for 4 whole rounds until Kankannpaa caught Eggink in a shocking 5th round submission. It seemed that the fight was going Eggink’s way and if the fight went to the judges she probably would have won by decision. Kankannpaa had different plans and locked up a darce choke in the final round to win the strawweight title.

Performance(s) of the night: Tonya Evinger and Irene Aldana

Tonya Evinger fought Ediane Gomes and made quick work of her in the first round. Gomes came out very aggressive but Evinger was able to secure a mount position early on and from there it was all her until she locked up an armbar. Gomes held on for a while but eventually tapped before her arm snapped.

Irene Aldana completely punished TUF vet, Peggy Morgan, in their fight. She left Morgan battered and bruised after stopping her in the first round. Aldana dropped Morgan and quickly locked up a rear naked choke that forced Morgan to tap.
