Invicta FC enters exciting partnership with Pancrase

Invicta Fighting Championship, an established North American MMA promotion that specializes exclusively in women’s MMA, has announced a new, exclusive talent-sharing partnership with long-standing Japanese promotion Pancrase. This means that, going forward, the two exciting organizations will swap fighters on a regular basis, affording the members of their rosters more opportunities to compete. “It’s an honor to be able to partner with Pancrase, one of MMA’s most storied promotions,” said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp in an official statement (via Sherdog.com). “In addition to all past and present ‘Kings and Queens of Pancrase,’ pioneers and contemporary stars alike have passed through the Pancrase organization at one time or another.”

Friday evening at Invicta FC 18, Megan Anderson picked up a 1st round TKO over Peggy Morgan. The victory was an extremely impressive one for Anderson, who extended her record to 7-2 with the win. While the finish was impressive, it was a post-fight photo of Morgan’s face that made headlines after the event.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe recently found themselves under fire for comments made about Invicta FC champion Cris Cyborg. On a recent podcast Rogan and Hinchcliffe made jokes about Cyborg’s inability to make the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds. Rogan stated that the only way she’d make the weight would be to cut off her penis, an obviously harsh joke.

Cris “Cyborg” (14-1, 1 NC) is getting set to fight at Invicta FC 15 on Jan. 16 in Costa Mesa, California. Her potential opponent, Cindy Dandois (6-2) was announced by Invicta president Shannon Knapp on the Monday’s MMA Hour. Although Cyborg confirmed that there was no official bout agreement on the weight and opponent, it definitely sounds like Knapp is pushing for the bout between Cyborg and Dandois at a 140-pound catchweight, which could lead Cyborg to a fight in the UFC.
