Edmen Shahbazyan is back. According to Manouk Akopyan of the LA Times, and confirmed by BJPENN.com, Shahbazyan will fight sixth-ranked middleweight, Jack Hermansson at UFC 262 on May 15. The event will also take place in Houston, Texas with a full crowd.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 16, Marvin Vettori stepped up on short notice to take on top-five contender, Jack Hermansson. Vettori was looking for the biggest win of his career while Hermansson was trying to prove he should get a number one contender bout next time out. However, it was the Italian who won the fight by decision and nearly finished Hermansson in the first.

UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori revealed the facial injuries from the Jack Hermansson fight feel “like he had a knife in his glove.” Vettori and Hermansson set a UFC record for the most combined significant strikes landed in a middleweight fight ever. Both men went to the well, taking the fight into deep waters and trying to get the knockout with every last swing. Ultimately at the end of 25 minutes, Vettori was given the nod by the judges on the scorecards. It was a close and competitive fight and both men landed some good shots, but Vettori landed the more significant strikes, including a big knockdown in the first round.

UFC middleweight contender Jack Hermansson issued a statement following his unanimous decision loss to Marvin Vettori at UFC Vegas 16. Hermansson and Vettori met in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 16 card. The two middleweights traded shots and grappling exchanges for 25 minutes as they went the distance in one of the best fights of the year. Both men proved in the battle that they are two of the best in the world at 185lbs, but Vettori proved to be a little sharper as he won a closely-fought decision. Although Hermansson lost the fight, it was an awesome battle.

On Saturday night, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to our screens with the under-the-radar UFC Vegas 16 card out of the promotion’s Apex facility. The card was originally expected to be headlined by a middleweight fight between Jack Hermansson and Darren Till. When Till was forced off the card, Hermansson accepted a short notice fight with Kevin Holland, who was ultimately also forced off the card after testing positive for COVID-19. The UFC then made a third attempt at finding Hermansson an opponent, matching him up with Marvin Vettori, who had originally been scheduled to fight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza next weekend. The third time seems to have been the charm.

Vettori was originally slated to fight Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256, but after Kevin Holland tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from UFC Fight Night 16, the UFC matched up Vettori against Hermansson. Holland, in turn, is now scheduled to fight Souza a week later. Vettori will now take on Hermansson in his very first UFC main event and it’s the first time he’s been booked to fight five rounds during his career.

Hermansson was originally slated to take on Darren Till in the main event of UFC Vegas 16, which is set for December 5 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, bad luck hit Till and he was forced out of the fight. The UFC was then able to get Holland to step in on short notice and save the card, but he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw. The UFC then played musical chairs, matching up Marvin Vettori with Hermansson and Holland against Ronaldo Souza.
