James Vick on a fight with Conor McGregor: ‘I win that fight pretty easy’

At UFC Lincoln this Saturday night, The Ultimate Fighter season 15 alum, rising contender James Vick has the biggest fight of his career.

James Vick

Standing opposite Vick in the main event on Saturday will be arguably the most exciting fighter in MMA, the former World Series Of Fighting lightweight champion ‘The Highlight’ Justin Gaethje.

Originally Vick was to take on Paul Felder at this event but after Al Iaquinta pulled out vs Gaethje due to injury, Vick got the call-up.

Full of confidence, Vick expects a knockout victory over his wild opponent. But he also isn’t too shy to share his opinions on how he thinks fights in the future could go.

One, in particular, being with the former champion Conor McGregor as he told Fanatics View.

”In my mind, I’m six inches taller than the guy, I’ve got a five-inch reach advantage. I’d beat the brakes off Conor McGregor, in my mind. I’d love to take the fight, I’d love to fight him not just for the money, but to beat a guy with a name like that, you’d go down in history as well. And I really think that I can win that fight pretty easily, I really do. With my range and movements, I win that fight pretty easy.

A lot of people hate on Conor McGregor, I think he’s phenomenal for the sport. He’s brought attention and media coverage to our sport that we wouldn’t get from other avenues. He has different companies that wouldn’t be interested in MMA all of a sudden very interested in MMA and the UFC. So I love the fact that he’s in the UFC and love the fact that he’s in my weight class. and I would love to fight him, it would change my life. He’s a great fighter, he’s very good for the sport.”

McGregor will obviously have his hands full with the current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on October 6th, but if McGregor plans to stick around afterward and Vick keeps on winning…who knows. Maybe we’ll get to see if Vick is right some day.
