Dominick Reyes knows Jan Blachowicz will not be an easy out. In the co-main event of UFC 253 on September 26, Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will be fighting for the vacant light heavyweight title. On Monday, Jon Jones announced on Twitter he would be vacating the belt and the UFC swiftly promoted the Reyes vs Blachowicz matchup to be for the vacant title.

The closely contested bout went in favor of “Bones,” however, many spectators believed Reyes should have claimed the split decision victory. Both Reyes and Dana White have suggested an immediate rematch, but the champion has other plans.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has no plans of granting Dominick Reyes with a immediate rematch following their close fight at UFC 247. ‘Bones’ scored a unanimous decision victory over Reyes at February’s event in Houston, but the judges ruling did not sit well with many fight fans. Even UFC President Dana White admitted that he had scored the UFC 247 main event in favor of ‘The Devastator’.

I am the next in line, and nobody can get in line in front of me. They can just fight to see who’s going to be fighting me next, when I’m defending the belt (or) if anything happens and they take the belt from Jon [Jones].”

UFC light heavyweight contender Jan Blachowicz poked fun at champion Jon Jones after his recent arrest for driving while under the influence. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson at UFC Rio Rancho and Jones was in attendance for the event. While Dominick Reyes appeared to be getting a rematch with Jones after they had a razor-close fight at UFC 247, but Blachowicz beating Anderson seemed to jump him ahead in the title queue. After UFC Rio Rancho, it seemed as though Jones and Blachowicz agreed to fight for the belt later this year based on their tweets.

It appears that surging UFC light heavyweight contender Jan Blachowicz will not be the next man to challenge current division kingpin Jon Jones. Blachowicz scored a viscous first-round knockout victory over Corey Anderson at last month’s UFC fight night event in Rio Rancho. The highlight reel finish served as Blachowicz’s third straight victory, this after he had previously notched wins over Luke Rockhold and Jacare Souza, and appeared to set him up for a future title shot with Jon Jones.

Brendan Schaub isn’t exactly counting down the days to a potential Jon Jones vs. Jan Blachowicz bout. Blachowicz may have secured himself the next UFC light heavyweight title opportunity. This past Saturday night (Feb. 15), Blachowicz took on Corey Anderson in a rematch. Blachowicz lost their first encounter back in Sept. 2015 via unanimous decision. The rematch was a different story as Blachowicz knocked out Anderson in the opening frame of the UFC Rio Rancho main event.

The sportsbooks have opened up betting odds for a potential bout between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and top contender Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson in devastating fashion at UFC Rio Rancho to emerge as arguably the No. 1 contender in the UFC light heavyweight division. Jones was in attendance for the event and afterward expressed interest in fighting Blachowicz. Of course, Dominick Reyes could still get a rematch after his close loss to Jones at UFC 247. Yet, this time the stakes were higher as the winner of this fight could very well get the next shot at Jon Jones. In the end, Blachowicz extended his winning streak with a first-round knockout over Anderson.

Last night, in the main event of UFC Rio Rancho, light heavyweight contender Jan Blachowicz picked up a violent, upset victory over Corey Anderson. The Polish fighter sealed the deal via first-round knockout. Heading into this matchup, Anderson was widely viewed as the next man in like for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. In victory, however, Blachowicz seemingly leapfrogged the American, and potentially locked up his own shot at Jones.
