Thomas Taylor - July 5, 2018
Last night, UFC 226 was dealt a terrible blow as featherweight champion Max Holloway was forced out of his co-main event featherweight title fight with undefeated challenger Brian Ortega. Holloway was removed from the card, which goes down this Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada, with concussion-like symptoms. From there, the UFC apparently made a brief attempt at finding a short-notice opponent for Ortega, ideally for an interim title fight. Their first choice was streaking featherweight knockout artist Jeremy Stephens. Unfortunately, Ortega wasn’t interested in this idea, and opted to wait for Holloway to recover.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that former UFC featherweight king Jose Aldo had agreed to a June 23 showdown with surging knockout artist Jeremy Stephens in Singapore. Then, however, the UFC announced that a Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. Leon Edwards scrap would serve as the UFC Singapore main event, which raised question about the status of this main event worthy Aldo-Stephens bout. Well, according to a report from Combate, this compelling scrap will no longer occur in Singapore, but at a FOX Show on July 28, in an unspecified Canadian city. While the host city of this card has not yet been determined, Calgary has been named as a frontrunner by Ariel Helwani.

Jeremy Stephens defends controversial strikes thrown during finish of Josh Emmett
Tom Taylor - February 25, 2018
On Saturday night, in the main event of the UFC’s anticipated return to Orlando, Florida, featherweight knockout artist Jeremy Stephens authored yet another brutal stoppage win, this time at the expense of Josh Emmett. Unfortunately, Stephen’s knockout win, which left Emmett with a shattered orbital bone, was shadowed in controversy, as several of the strikes in the fight-ending sequence were widely believed to be illegal. The most questionable strikes of the bunch were a series of elbows that seemed to land on the back of the head, and a knee strike (which thankfully didn’t seem to land which much impact), that was certainly illegal under some MMA rulesets…

'Savage Killer' Jeremy Stephens Ready to Take Out Untested Josh Emmett at UFC Orlando
Justin Golightly - February 22, 2018
Who is that guy? That’s the hardest hittin’ 145-er, Jeremy Stephens. Fresh off his vicious finish of rising prospect Dooho Choi, Stephens is stepping into the Octagon with Josh Emmett this weekend, who is no stranger to throwing heat himself. He just took out perennial featherweight gatekeeper Ricardo Lamas in an outcome that shocked a lot of people. The fight at UFC Orlando between Stephens and Emmett will be about who can land that big shot first or whose chin can hold up for the long haul, but Stephens thinks Emmett just hasn’t put in enough time on the battle clock. “[Josh Emmett]’s been in the gym getting these guys [from Team Alpha Male] ready. He hasn’t actually been out there on the battlefield like a true general getting that experience. He’ll be well prepared and he’ll be in great shape but he doesn’t have what I have. He’s going to find that out very soon. I’m not a competitor. I don’t score points. I’m in there to take you out. I will break him. I’m not a competitor. I’m a vicious fighter. I’m a savage killer who wants to take you out, who wants to finish you.”

Jeremy Stephens "Blessed" That Yves Edwards KO'd Him
Drake Riggs - February 13, 2018
After a bumpy 2-5 in his last seven, Jeremy Stephens has put together two very impressive performances over the likes of Doo Ho Choi and former Strikeforce lightweight champion and two-time UFC lightweight title challenger, Gilbert Melendez. Stephens’ last fight against Choi took place in January where he won in exciting fashion with a second-round TKO. Fast forward one month and ‘Lil Heathen’ is already booked for another main event as he’s set to square off with Josh Emmett in Orlando, Florida for UFC on Fox 28. Jeremy Stephens has been with the UFC since May of 2007 and racked up twenty-nine fights with the promotion. When Stephens looks back at his non-stop action career, one moment stands out in particular, and it might not be one that you would expect. Of his forty-one fights overall, Stephens has only been knocked out one time and that was to the ‘Thugjitsu Master’ Yves Edwards in 2012. Stephens credits this loss greatly for a turnaround in his career after going on a three-fight losing then dropping to featherweight.
