“I think i’m one or two fights away [from a title shot]. I think [Valentina] Shevchenko will fight for the title next and I would like to fight her for the title. So however many I need to have between now and then, that’s what i’m working towards 100%.

She [Shevchenko] is the next champion, 100%. She is very, very good. She is very skilled, very experienced. I feel like her performance was so amazing and so dominant because of who she was fighting but whatever, you know. Like if they had given her someone a bit more experienced, and a bit more experienced on the international scene it would have gone really differently. She still probably would have won, but it would have been a much tougher fight and not such a dominant bashing.”

The #9 ranked UFC flyweight, Jessica-Rose Clark has quickly put her name on the map since she made her UFC debut in November. Since then, she has rattled off two impressive victories over the likes of Bec Rawlings and Paige VanZant thus putting her on a three-fight win streak and inching her closer and closer to a title shot.

Obviously, Clark isn’t the only one who thinks that former bantamweight title challenger, Shevchenko will be the next 125-pound champion of the UFC. But perhaps a more unpopular opinion would be that she doesn’t think that the current champion, Nicco Montano will be a walk in the park for the multiple time Muay Thai champion, Shevchenko:

“I’d be leaning towards her [Shevchenko] but Nicco is such a flying under the radar unknown. She’s fought some tough girls. Roxanne Modaferri has forty-something fights and she outclassed Roxanne and Roxanne has been killin’ people. No one really knows what Nicco presents yet. She might come out and surprise everyone. Which is what she’s been doing so I think it will be a really good fight, I still lean towards Shevchenko because I just feel like she’s more intelligent and just has that experience which goes a long way.”

Clark’s first two UFC fights came within three months of each other and she experienced a home invasion while away for her last fight so a break may be due. Regardless, she still has an idea of when she would like to return and who she has her eyes on:

“I would like to fight again in June or July. That’s what we’re working towards. I would love to fight in Vegas, i’ve traveled so much over the last year, it’d be nice to fight at home.

I don’t really care who it is to tell you the truth. There’s a lot of girls in front of me, there’s a lot of really good names, there’s a lot of really experienced girls and every single one of them would be a nice scalp, so whoever.

We’ve already mentioned Alexis Davis. I think she’d be a really good fight. She’s ranked number three or four now so that’s kind of who i’m aiming towards but it’s really just who they have available, you know.”

Alexis Davis is a former UFC bantamweight title challenger and last fought at UFC Fight Night 123 in Fresno, California when she took on Liz Carmouche in a rematch as well as her flyweight debut. Davis earned the split decision nod in a very close fight thus extending her current streak to two.

Do you like that fight next for “Jessy Jess” Clark? What are your thoughts on her Shevchenko comments?
