“When I got the offer to fight Justine Kish, everyone was talking about her accident in the cage. Then when it was finalized, everyone I know was telling me to make her shit her pants again. Every time I met someone and start talking about the fight, they kept saying that to me.

However, I have not said to anyone that I would do that. Justine should be respected for her focus and determination. I wonder what I would do in that situation but it is something I don’t want to know. I respect her performance but I am as strong mentally as her.

Whenever someone brings up Kish, I just want to immediately fight her. Her shitting her pants is not important to me.”

As you may or may not be aware…you are now. UFC Strawweight turned Flyweight, Justine Kish had a bit of an accident in her last time out against Felice Herrig at UFC Fight Night 112. Obviously, it was so much of an accident that her first opponent after the accident, Ji Yeon Kim has been continually reminded of it! But as she told MMA Today‘s John Hyon Ko, she is focused on the fight and…not the other stuff.

“Justine Kish is moving up in weight and I am dropping down so I should have the advantage. Watching her fights, she looks to be strong for the Strawweight division. She hasn’t had any problems so far but she will not be able to match my strength in the cage.

By watching film on Justine Kish, she seems like a very well rounded fighter. In my training, I focused more on what I am good at which is striking. Since she is a decent grappler, I am mixing in work on the ground with my striking preparations.”

Ji Yeon Kim made her UFC debut in her last fight, which was against Lucie Pudilova at UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore. Unfortunately for Kim, she did not come out on top thus giving her the first loss of her career and making her 6-1-2 in her professional MMA career. Her fight with Kish at UFC on Fox 27 this Saturday will be her very first fight outside of Asia as well as her first fight at Flyweight. UFC on Fox 27 takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina.
