Jimmie Rivera explains why he wants to "beat the sh*t" out of Urijah Faber
Adam Martin - February 8, 2021
UFC bantamweight contender Jimmie Rivera explained why he wants to “beat the sh*t” out of his former opponent and rival Urijah Faber. Rivera and Faber first met back at UFC 203: Miocic vs. Overeem in September 2016. In a fight that marked his first true coming-out party in the UFC, Rivera won a unanimous decision over the legend Faber that night. However, he suffered a nasty eye poke during the fight and was also the victim of a low blow. Although that fight was five years ago, Rivera still holds a grudge, and of course, there is only one way to settle the score: a rematch between the two veterans.

Jimmie Rivera claims Frankie Edgar turned him down for Fight Island matchup: "Frankie said no"
Adam Martin - July 9, 2020
UFC bantamweight contender Jimmie Rivera says that Frankie Edgar turned down a short-notice matchup against him for a Fight Island card next week. Edgar was set to fight Pedro Munhoz at UFC on ESPN 12: Kattar vs. Ige, but the fight was scrapped when Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19. Immediately, fighters such as Rivera, Chito Vera, and Ricky Simon all raised their hands up on social media by saying they would take the fight but so far no replacement opponent for Edgar has been announced. It’s unknown at this point whether or not Edgar will remain on the card going forward.

After losing out on Cody Garbrandt fight, Jimmie Rivera and Raphael Assuncao agree to fight
Drake Riggs - November 13, 2018
Since UFC 227, there hasn’t been a whole lot going on atop the UFC’s stacked bantamweight division. But that looks to be changing very soon. With the recent announcements of Dominick Cruz’ return at UFC 233 vs John Lineker along with champion TJ Dillashaw going down to challenge for Henry Cejudo’s flyweight title, the division remains feeling held up.
Jimmie Rivera tells 'head case' Cody Garbrandt to 'grab his balls out of Urijah Faber's purse' and get the division moving again
Drake Riggs - October 18, 2018
The 135-pound bantamweight division is one of the most talent-rich divisions in all of MMA. But currently, it feels like it’s at a bit of a standstill. Despite the myriad of options when it comes to next challengers for the champion TJ Dillashaw, it seems fairly possible that his next bout could be coming against the flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. Which in the meantime would call for some movement to be made at the top of 135.
EXCLUSIVE | Jimmie Rivera hopes to team up with Aljamain Sterling to end the Dillashaw-Cruz-Garbrandt dynasty
Tom Taylor - September 27, 2018
The UFC bantamweight division is ruled by three men, all of whom have worn the divisional belt in the last few years. One is TJ Dillashaw, the reigning champion. The second is former champion Dominick Cruz, who is the last man to defeat Dillashaw. The other is former champion Cody Garbrandt, who ended Cruz’s title reign, but had his own reign ended by Dillashaw. Given their ability and the way they match up with each other, it’s conceivable that Dillashaw, Cruz and Garbrandt could battle at the top of the bantamweight division for years, swapping the title every few fights. Jimmie Rivera is hoping he can stop that from happening.
