Jiri Prochazka praised by former opponent Volkan Oezdemir: "He's bringing something different to the game"
Adam D Martin - October 15, 2021
UFC light heavyweight Jiri Prochazka was praised by former opponent Volkan Oezdemir, saying “he’s bringing something different to the game.” Prochazka has taken the UFC by storm in just a short period of time. The former RIZIN standout made his UFC debut last summer against Oezdemir on Fight Island and he picked up a brutal knockout victory. Then, in his second UFC appearance, he knocked out Dominick Reyes. The UFC liked the performance so much that it gave him the role as a backup fighter for the upcoming UFC light heavyweight title match at UFC 267 featuring champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira. Should either Blachowicz or Teixeira not be able to make it to that title fight, then Prochazka will be the one who fills in for them.

It was his third loss in a row and since the fight, Reyes hasn’t spoken about it until he caught up with MMA reporter, James Lynch on Thursday to discuss the loss. He also revealed he has changed camps as he is now training at Xtreme Couture but is being cautious with his training as he still is healing his brain.

It may not have been the prettiest win he’s ever had, but a win is all that matters given the direction he was heading in.
Jiri Prochazka in phenomenal shape ahead of backup role in UFC 267 light heavyweight title fight (Photos)
Adam Martin - September 5, 2021
Jiri Prochazka is in phenomenal shape ahead of his backup role in the upcoming UFC 267 light heavyweight title fight. Prochazka joined the UFC last summer on Fight Island and picked up a beautiful knockout win over former title challenger Volkan Oezdemeir in his UFC debut. He then returned to the Octagon back in May and he finished Dominick Reyes in an amazing fight that won him both “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night.” Despite Prochazka looking absolutely amazing so far in the UFC, the promotion already had Glover Teixeira as the No 1 contender at 205lbs and had to give him the title shot first. So the UFC booked light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz against Teixeira at UFC 267 in October. But just in case anything happens to either fighter, Prochazka has officially been named as the backup.

Cole Shelton - August 18, 2021
Anthony Smith thinks fighting Jiri Prochazka would be a ton of fun. Prochazka is the former RIZIN light heavyweight champion and has made good so far in his UFC career. He will now serve as the backup for the title fight, but Smith says that is a fight he would like to have.
Jiri Prochazka wants to get back into the Octagon as soon as possible: "Ready to jump in"
Adam D Martin - June 21, 2021
UFC light heavyweight contender Jiri Prochazka says he wants to get back into the Octagon soon to continue his quest towards the 205lbs belt. Prochazka is coming off of back-to-back knockout wins over Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir to kick off his UFC career. The Czech Republic native has looked absolutely phenomenal so far in the UFC and it’s possible that he could even fight for the title in his next fight. But instead of sitting around and waiting for a title shot, it looks like Prochazka is hoping to get back into the cage soon so he can continue to solidify his UFC resume.
Jan Blachowicz says Jiri Prochazka should fight Aleksandar Rakic in No. 1 contender fight
Adam D Martin - June 18, 2021
UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz says that Jiri Prochazka should fight Aleksandar Rakic in No. 1 contender fight at 205lbs. Blachowicz takes on Glover Teixeira this fall at UFC 266 in his second light heavyweight title defense after getting the best of Israel Adesanya earlier this year at UFC 259. While we know that Teixeira is the next man in line to fight for the belt, after that, it’s hard to say who is next in line for the title. The smart money is on Prochazka, who has knocked out Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes in his first two UFC fights, but Rakic is 6-1 overall in the UFC and isn’t far back from the belt. Then there’s also Magomed Ankalaev, who is 6-1 overall in the Octagon, as well. Any of these three men could be a future Blachowicz foe.
Jiri Prochazka praises "king of the light heavyweight division" Jon Jones
Adam D Martin - May 10, 2021
UFC light heavyweight contender Jiri Prochazka says that he believes Jon Jones is still the “king of the light heavyweight division.” Prochazka is one of the hottest names at 205lbs these days after knocking out Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir in his first two Octagon appearances. UFC president Dana White has already said Prochazka is next in line to fight the winner of UFC 266’s main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira, and that’s ideal because “Denisa” is hoping to win the belt. But if you ask Prochazka, the top opponent for him that he could choose would still be Jones.
Aleksandar Rakic wants No. 1 contender fight with Jiri Prochazka
Adam D Martin - May 5, 2021
UFC light heavyweight contender Aleksandar Rakic wants to fight Jiri Prochazka next, with the winner getting a title shot at 205lbs. Prochazka is the hottest name in the division right now after knocking out Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir in his first two UFC fights. UFC president Dana White has hinted that Prochazka will be next in line to fight the winner of UFC 266’s main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, but it has also been suggested that Prochazka could fight once more in the meantime. If that happens, then the logical fight for him would be against Rakic, the man who he just overtook in the rankings.

But he absolutely deserves it after beating Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir by knockout in his first two UFC appearances. As well, he is riding a 12-fight win streak.
