UFC on Fox 30 is starting to really shape up. And it looks like it could be a showcase for some of the women’s division’s best.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

After reports that the UFC is working to set up their flyweight champion, Nicco Montano’s first title defense against Valentina Shevchenko as the card’s main event, we have now learned that another high profile female bout has become official before that one.

ESPN reports that UFC President, Dana White has confirmed that former strawweight queen, Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Tecia Torres is a go for the return to Canada.

A staple of the division since it’s UFC inception, Tecia Torres has been hopeful of facing Joanna at one point or another in her UFC career. It’s just safe to say that most assumed it would be with a title on the line.

With that in mind, this fight will be Joanna’s first non-title fight since 2014 when she defeated her rival, Claudia Gadelha for the first time by way of split decision to earn her shot at gold against Carla Esparza.

Joanna and Torres could have met in the cage a lot sooner than now as Torres was a part of season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter which was where Esparza was crowned to become the inaugural UFC strawweight champion. She defeated Torres along the way.

Each woman is coming off a loss and will be hungry to get back in the winner’s circle. Torres’ last fight coming against Jessica Andrade at UFC on Fox 28 in February and Joanna’s last fight being just as recent as the beginning of April when she attempted to regain her title from Rose Namajunas in her immediate title rematch.
