Woman’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk may share a common nationality with her next opponent, but there’s still no love lost between the two.

Jedzrejczyk discussed her upcoming title fight with Karolina Kowalkiewicz during Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour, and flat out called Karolina a phony:

“I met her back in 2012, I actually submitted her in the third round during a grappling competition in Poland. She was super nice and super cute, she came up to me with her coach to shake my hand, but she’s a fake person,” the champ said.

“Before my fight with Claudia (Gadelha), we had a photo shoot together and again she was super nice, but after her last fight, she said a lot of bad things about me.”

Kowalkiewicz, who has a perfect 10-0 record, most recently defeated Rose Namajunas at UFC 201, which put her in a position for a title shot.

Meanwhile, Joanna Jedzrejczyk (12-0) beat Gadelha in July and hasn’t fought since.

The two Polish strawweight are scheduled to fight at the historic UFC 205, which will be the promotions debut in the Empire State.

The champ didn’t hold back when asked about Kowalkiewicz, who she says began the war of words between the two:

“She said that I am afraid of her, that I’m gonna lose my belt to her. Hey, c’mon, she’s a fake person and I will prove it to everyone.”

“She’s never fought anyone like me in her entire career.”

Jedzrejczyk now trains at American Top Team in Florida after parting ways with her coach and team in Poland.

“I train at ATT now, I needed to change things in my life. They have good coaches, great fighters, and the weather is nice in Florida,” the champ said.

“Training is different but very high level. I’m in good hands.”

Jedzrejczyk won the newly created 115 pound title at UFC 185, where she knocked out Carla Esparza to capture the belt.

Will Jedzrejczyk retain the title, or will  Karolina defeat the champ and become the second woman’s strawweight champ in UFC history? Sound off, PENN Nation!
