Joe Rogan breaks down Paulie Malignaggi’s chances against UFC fighters, picks one fighter he could beat

By Tom Taylor - September 5, 2017

On Saturday’s special UFC Rotterdam episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, UFC commentator Joe Rogan told guest Brendan Schaub that he believes it’s time for Paulie Malignaggi to stop trash-talking MMA fighters. Well, what he really said was that Malignaggi should “shut the f*ck up.”

Joe Rogan

Riffing on the subject of Malignaggi’s beef with the MMA community –which most recently manifested itself when the boxer got into it with UFC featherweight champ Max Holloway on Twitter – Rogan began breaking down Malignaggi’s chances in the Octagon with various fighters.

“What does Paulie weigh? ’45 right?” The UFC commentator asked Schaub (h/t Jed Meshew of MMAFighting.com). “How about you give him Ricardo [Lamas]. How about you give him Yair Rodriguez, how about that? Give him a guy that’s not the top of the food chain. Don’t give him Frankie Edgar, don’t give him Jose Aldo. You don’t need to do that.”

Max Holloway

Rogan then explored a Paulie Malignaggi vs. Max Holloway MMA bout specifically. Unsurprisingly, he does not like Malignaggi’s chances in this fight.

“Imagine what Max Holloway would do to Paulie Malignaggi in an MMA fight. Just imagine it. Just try to wrap your head around the kind of a**-f**king he would receive. Max Holloway would literally kill him if he wanted to. Literally kill him.”

There is, however, one fighter Joe Rogan believes Paulie Malignaggi could probably take out:

“He’d probably f**k C.M. Punk up.”

Punk, of course, is a former professional wrestler who, in September of 2016, stepped into the UFC’s Octagon with almost no MMA experience. His foray into the cage went as poorly as anyone expected, as he was mauled by young upstart Mickey Gall to a first-round submission. Since then, there has been some talk of Punk’s getting a second fight in the UFC. Though he would likely outweigh Malignaggi by upward of 30 pounds, maybe Malignaggi could be his second MMA opponent… Crazier things have happened
