UFC 207 could be the last time that fight fans get to see former UFC welterweight champion Jonhy Hendricks in action.

Johny Hendricks

“Bigg Rigg” recently spoke with ESPN’s Five Rounds where he announced that if he loses to Neil Magny at December’s UFC 207 event in Las Vegas he will be hanging up his gloves and retiring from the sport of mixed martial arts. His words:

“The last two I have lost, fair and square, I know I have,” Hendricks stated. “Realistically, if I go out there — and hey, crazier things have happened — I go out there and lose, that’s when it’s time to say, ‘I’m done.’ I’m not gonna keep fighting to hopefully find a person I can beat.”

Hendricks has last back-to-back fights, suffering a first-round knockout loss to top contender Stephen Thompson in February, and most recently dropping a decision to Kelvin Gastelum at July’s UFC 200 event.

The former welterweight title holder has gone 2-4 over his past six contests overall.

Johny’s two victories in that span have both come by decision against opponents Matt Brown and Robbie Lawler respectively.

Hendricks will meet perennial contender Neil Magny at UFC 207 this December in Sin City.

Magny is coming off a first-round knockout loss to the heavy handed striker known as “The Monsoon” Lorenz Larkin at August’s UFC 202 event.

Prior to the setback, Neil Magny had strung together three-straight victories over Erick Silva, Kelvin Gastelum and Hector Lombard.

UFC 207 is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight featuring current champion Amanda Nunes defending her title against former division title holder Ronda Rousey.

A men’s bantamweight title fight between champion Dominick Cruz and surging contender Cody Garbrandt is also slated for the event.
