Former UFC champion Jon Jones says he could compete in other MMA organizations overseas, but doesn’t really want to

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (22-1 MMA) has not stepped foot inside the octagon since his UFC 214 grudge match with Daniel Cormier last July in Anaheim.

“Bones” proved victorious over “DC” that night via third-round knockout. However, the title fight rematch was eventually changed to a no-contest this after Jones failed his final pre-fight drug test which detected trace amounts of the anabolic steroid turinabol in his system.

Although early a year has passed since Jon Jones was flagged by USADA, the United States Anti-Doping Agency has still yet to sanction “Bones”.

The now 30-year-old former UFC light heavyweight title holder, Jon Jones, was recently asked by a fan on Twitter if he could fight with some other MMA organizations overseas while the UFC is deliberating over his situation.

Jones responded to the fan with the following statement.

Jon Jones manager, Malki Kawa of First Round Management, believes that USADA will make a decision on his clients punishment before the end of this month.

“I’m very confident we will have a decision on this thing by the end of this month,” Kawa told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Jon Jones is the only man to successfully defeat reigning UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

The bitter rivals, Jones and Cormier, first met at UFC 182 in January of 2015, with “Bones” emerging victorious by way of unanimous decision.
