Jon Jones can’t wait to see Robert Whittaker ‘stomp a mudhole’ in Israel Adesanya
UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones will return to the octagon against dangerous knockout artist Thiago Santos at next month’s UFC 239 event. While ‘Bones’ is clearly focused on his upcoming fight with the Brazilian, it hasn’t stopped questions surrounding future fights with bitter rival Daniel Cormier and rising star Israel Adesanya from being asked.
Jones, who has taken shots at both ‘DC‘ and ‘Stylebender’ in recent weeks, took the opportunity to add salt to the wound during a recent interview.
As seen below, when asked about reigning UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, Jon Jones proceeded to show nothing but love for ‘The Reaper’, this while throwing shade at Whittaker’s future opponent current interim 185lbs title holder Israel Adesanya.

“Real deal,” Jon Jones said of Robert Whittaker. “I’ve got nothing but respect for him. He’s just like a stand-up guy. I can’t wait to see him stomp a mudhole in Adesanya.”
Whittaker, who shared the complimentary Jones video clip on Instagram, returned in kind with “nothing but respect mate!”.
Whittaker vs. Adesanya is expected to serve as the main event of UFC 243, which is slated to take place this October in Australia.
As for Jon Jones, the pound-for-pound great will square off with Thiago Santos on July 6 in Las Vegas.
If ‘Bones’ proves victorious at UFC 239, a future trilogy with Daniel Cormier or perhaps a super-fight with Israel Adesanya seem like strong potential options.
Jones is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Smith at UFC 235 this past April, which was preceded by a knockout victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232.
