Jon Jones has bold prediction for rematch with Daniel Cormier
After New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill officially legalizing MMA in New York, it didn’t take long for the UFC to announce their inaugural event in The Empire State.
The UFC revealed that its first event will be UFC 205 at the Madison Square Garden, and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta revealed the UFC’s intentions to hold an event at the Yankee Stadium.
There has been much speculation as to who would headline the UFC’s first event in New York. With Daniel Cormier recently withdrawing from his UFC 197 scrap with Jon Jones, many are wondering if Jones vs. Cormier II could headline the event.
Jon Jones has his doubts however:
“I would be honored to main event against Daniel Cormier at Madison Square Garden. The question is will Daniel Cormier accept that fight?” Jones told FOX Sports on the UFC 197 media conference call on Friday. “You know Daniel Cormier, obviously, he’s having a lot of mental struggles when it comes to me.
“That’s just one more thing that he doesn’t need. I’m sure he doesn’t want to fight me in my backyard because he needs all the mental breaks he can get.”
