Jon Jones Hearing for Failed Drug Test Rescheduled
For what feels like the past decade, Jon Jones has been making headlines for basically everything in the world of MMA. From car accidents to drug tests and even a ‘successful’ return to former glory (albeit a brief return) Jones doesn’t seem to have to try hard to be the main topic of conversation.
That conversation will be prolonged a bit more though as Jones’ upcoming hearing regarding a failed UFC 214 drug test has been moved to undetermined day in February of next year. The hearing was initially scheduled for December 12th according to a report by MMAFighting.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion defeated Daniel Cormier for the second time and looked to be in top form. A head kick followed by a nightmarish assault marked the second, and far more significant, return of Jones’ career. That’s why, through all of his past transgressions, the MMA community seemed to welcome back perhaps the greatest fighter of all time with open arms.
The failed drug test for the steroid, Turinabol, marks another strange and time-consuming chapter in Jones’ infamous career. This was the third failed test for Jones, who was originally stripped of his title after UFC 182 for violating the UFC’s Code of Conduct policy with a positive test for cocaine. A second failed test after UFC 197, for clomiphene and letrozole, a pattern was seemingly starting to develop.
In reaction to his most recent troubles, Jones’ has continuously denied that he knowingly used a banned substance and has been planning a defense built around the potential of a tainted supplement.
As for Jones’ second win over Daniel Cormier, it has been changed to a No Contest, and Cormier has been reinstated as the light heavyweight champion.
